reading. A few technical slips. I am a golfer and I was hoping to enjoy this book as a serious murder mystery set in the golf world, similar to the horse racing novels by Dick Frances, however this book is really a comedy with all the characters being over the top caricatures of themselves and the story rather silly in places and loosely based on some real life off the course scandal stories/people from the PGA tour.
This is a book that is mildly entertaining and good for reading on a journey and if you don't finish it, you won't lose any sleep, One of the worst books I have ever read! I felt as if I was reading a book written by a child! If anyone reads it who has no knowledge of golf they certainly won't want to find out any having read this! Wouldn't have given it any if that had been possible! I struggled to finish this book.
The characters were poorly drawn and failed to engage me, The author appeared to feel the need to use an adverb at every possible opportunity the text was stilted and didn't flow, Most disappointing. Pedestrian story with weird characters, The main character is a young Scottish police inspector who spends much of the book wandering round carrying a sand iron and it doesn't get much exciting! Even much of the golfing data is incorrect.
I know nothing of the author but I can only suggest that he doesn't give up his day job! Amanda Nelson is found buried in a bunker at St Andrews Golf Course
