This book is indeed but a survey of mostly European, but some Asian, history from prehistoric times to the fall of the western Roman Empire.
It is useful for readers who are largely ignorant of the events, but also serves as a nice highlighting reminder with occasional new and interesting facts for those who do know the history.
It is not, nor does it purport to be, an indepth historical analysis, I recommend the book to those who understand and desire its breadth and accept its lack of depth.
