Snag Prior Sins Depicted By D.J. Gross Distributed As Volume
really enjoyed this book! The best part was the storyline of Sarah/Grace's past, Good job!.I rounded up in this case given how good the second half of this book was,
I read DJ Grosssst book Stolen Justice and absolutely loved it, . .for sure. So there was no question that when I saw Prior Sins was available that I would be buying it,
Ill admit I started this book a couple of weeks ago and less than half way thru I kind of lost interest, It may have been because I was reading it solely at the gym and couldnt get into the story in small amounts,
The story was interesting enough with a deranged madman with a love of blond hair which he takes as a trophy form his victims and a Hercules fixation.
Im not really into Greek mythology and a large part of the killers actions and motivations have a link to Hercules and his twelve labours, . . I think that was when I lost some interest, This dude also does some serious conversing with the voices in his head,
Englishman Hayden Prior, Psychologist and Oxford University Professor visiting the Michigan University campus in Ann Arbor did not expect to get involved in the grisly case as the madman ratchets up the attacks on women, but his insight and knowledge come in handy as the local police call on him to aid in their investigation.
He is somewhat
famous in his home country for some of his previous work but he certainly was hoping for a quiet stay while on sabbatical in Michigan.
It was not to be,
Sarah Roth is a classics professor at the University, She loves her job, has a great rapport with her students and has no idea that the madman carrying out all the heinous crimes on campus is obsessed with her.
Shes also got a few of her own deep seeded issues like a fixation with blood and her dear dead moms voice replaying the same refrain over and over again in her head.
. . ”Dont tell. ” Mmmmmm Her own issues seriously inhibit her ability to act on her growing attraction to the dashing Englishman,
Once I picked this book up again and really got into the meat of the story the action really caught my attention, As in Grosss previous book, there was a particular twist I did not see coming and it was a shocker, It also really helped explain a lot of Sarah's hangups, I really do love when an author can surprise me with a plot device,
I read the second half of this book in record time, I think if I had initially stuck with this book I would have finished it within a couple days and I'm super glad I picked it up again.
It's a testament to Grosss storytelling that she was able to pull me back into the story after some time away,
The first half of Prior Sins mainly focuses on the perp carrying out his crimes and the ensuing police investigation, The romance between Hayden and Sarah doesnt really ramp up til much later in the story, Excellent from start to finish, . . what a page turner. Loved it as much as her Stolen Justice!!!! Blue Ribbon Rating:out of

Oxford University Professor Hadrian Prior aids the British police in identifying criminals and building a case against them.
Hes not sure how hell cope with a vacation from his consultation work when he takes a position as a visiting professor at the University of Michigan.
Then a series of increasingly violent crimes on campus lead the Ann Arbor police to ask Hadrian for help, and he once against finds himself delving into the mind of a psychopath.
A potential clue involving Greek mythology leads Hadrian to Classics Professor Sarah Roth and an attraction too powerful for him to deny,
Sarah Roth knows all about monsters she is one, At least, thats what her dreams of blood and death lead her to believe, Shes been told since childhood to never tell anyone of her dreams, but close contact with Hadrian starts to crumble the defenses shes built up from childhood.
The only thing she can do to keep her sanity intact is stay away from Hadrian, but her growing feelings for the handsome professor make that impossible.
Hadrian knows that Sarah is no monster, but before he can prove it to her, he has to help the police find the true evil thats at large somewhere on campus.
Because the case has taken a personal turn the stalker is bent on targeting women to prove himself worthy of his true love, . . Sarah.
As far as Im concerned, DJ Gross is one of the top romantic suspense authors out there today, Having fallen in love with Ms, Grosss debut novel, STOLEN JUSTICE, I wondered if PRIOR SINS could possibly meet the bar Id set in my head for Ms, Grosss work.
It absolutely does,
PRIOR SINS is both a gripping thriller and a tender romance, At the heart of the story are Sarah and Hadrian, Sarah has nightmares of blood and death, leading her to believe that shes a monster waiting to happen, While this isnt true, the background that Ms, Gross provides shows why Sarah thinks of herself the way she does, My heart broke for Sarah and there are elements to her character arc that not only engaged, but surprised, me, Hadrian, in turn, is a sexyassin hero that I loved, Hes brilliant, sensual and wonderful with Sarah, but best of all, hes a rather surly guy, I adore the fact that Ms, Gross didnt make Hadrian perfect the roughness around the edges makes his interactions with Sarah all the more beautiful,
PRIOR SINS is, quite simply, a fabulous book, Ms. Gross kept me on the edge of my seat not just the first time I read it, but every single time since, I cant give details without spoiling the excitement of PRIOR SINS, but I will say that the twists and turns the story takes had me almost literally glued to the book.
PRIOR SINS has made it onto the list of my alltime favorite books and I cant wait to read Sarah and Hadrians story again and again and again!

DJ Gross has created very likable characters and an antagonist you can actually feel sorry for,
With Sarah, you realize early on that she couldnt help but fall victim to her dreams and hallucinations since her mother drilled into her that she would be put away if she ever told anyone.
Hadrian, dark angel good looks with a British accent to complete the package, is just the right person to come along to dig into Sarahs past and help her realize she wasnt going crazy because her dreams had a very real, very horrifying origin.
As for the antagonist, I wont state the name as that will be a major spoilerthrow in some mythology to go along with the unhealthy obsession and tormented childhood and you have a certifiable crazy person that passes as normal during his interactions with the other characters.
One really nice aspect of the book is that you never actually know who the antagonist is until the characters do, Its very easy to have suspicions about a couple of the characters but you never actually know until youre told, Many times as a reader you are privy to information the characters are not and youre just waiting for them to be enlightened not so in this case.
As soon as you think you know who it is beyond a doubt, you find out youre wrong,
If youre looking for some mystery and suspense with a little romance thrown in, Prior Sins fits the bill, .
