Outrageous Confessions of Lady Deborah was a wonderful book, simply amazing, The romance, high stakes, and shocking secrets kept me on the edge of my seat,
The story of this book was very original, I haven't seen anything like it before, And that definitely turned out for the better,
Lady Deborah was a unique character in the world of romance, To say she is shocking would be an understatement, She writes steamy, erotic books and jumps at the chance to be an accomplice to a notorious thief as soon as she meets Elliot, That made her really fun to read about, But she was more than that, Her marriage was a disaster, an absolute train wreck, It caused her a lot of pain, shame, and humiliation, Not to mention the emotional scars it left behind, That was probably my favorite part of the story, the depth of the emotion as Lady Deborah tries to heal from her previous marriage, This causes her to make some really stupid decisions, but I couldn't fault her for it, not when her emotional state was so clearly described.
Despite all her baggage, she is brave and strong in trying to move on, Really one of the best romance heroines I've seen,
Elliot oh Elliot. He was phenomenal. I adored him. He's an exsoldier and has a chip in his shoulder from his time in the army, He resents all the gentlemen in higher ranks who controlled supplies to the army and failed to send enough, His incarnation as the Peacocka notorious thiefis his way of revenge, That gave his as much emotional depth as Deborah had, But, of course, he was more than that, He is so sweet to Deborah, and helps her in healing from her marriage, I absolutely fell in love with him, Their relationship was a whirlwind, with Deborah wary and Elliot persistent in his attentions, Elliot was a brilliant hero, If only he actually existed :
The story moved quickly, During the thefts that Deborah and Elliot did together, I was on the edge of my seat, the suspense nearly killing me, The ending was sweet, a perfect ending for the book,
Loved this book, If you like a combination of romance, secrets, and suspense, you'll love this book,

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy! review to come Absolutely delectable! Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies, com:
After the death of her parents, Lady Deborah Napier, Dowager Countess of Kinsail, had been raised by her aging uncle and left on her own for the most part, so she had devised tales and made invisible friends.
When her governess caught her one day talking to her imaginary friends, she quit her position and Deborah was sent off to boarding school, The five years at Miss Kilpatricks Seminary for Young Ladies had been the happiest of Deborahs life, Her stories had made her popular and she had lost her shyness, During the last two years there her stories had centered on romantic love, rather than the derringdo and ghost stories she previously wrote, But from the beginning, love had been a major component of her stories, She had felt that one day her life would be like her stories, but then she married Jeremy and spent seven torturous years with him before he died.
He has been dead for two years and for two torturous weeks each year she returns to the estate which is now run by her deceased husbands cousin, the present Lord Kinsail, who treats her with disdain.
She is lonely and unhappy, but she is determined that no one will ever hurt her again, She had just been on her way back to the manor house when she spotted a menacing figure coming down the drainpipe,
While in the army, Major Elliot Marchmont had witnessed firsthand the effects of penny pinchers like Lord Kinsails failure to get the supplies to the starving, threadbare soldiers.
Many good men had been lost, Now, as a gentleman and an exsoldier, he sees some of the former soldiers who had joined up, anticipating a good life after the war, only to end up on the streets after returning home.
So Elliot makes those responsible pay, By breaking into their homes, confiscating their valuables and fencing them, Elliot uses the money to help atone for their war crimes, He has become quite infamous and is known as the Peacock, In Lord Kinsails case, he had obtained a huge diamond in an unsavory way, so Elliot broke in and relieved him of it,
As Elliot made his escape down the drainpipe, escaping Lord Kinsails manor house, he let go and landed on a lady passing below.
Before making his escape, he could not resist kissing the luscious lady, For Deborah, the kiss was the stuff of her dreams, She still weaves stories and sells them, Her adventures this night was something the heroine in her books, Bella Donna, would do, She considered raising the alarm, but then she would have to explain why she was roaming the grounds at four in the morning in nothing but her night clothes with a cloak thrown over them.
Keeping it to herself, she decided it was time to leave the estate once more, The only consolation she has to having never given her husband a son was that she did not have to prolong her contact with the present heir.
But when she returns to London, her publisher informs her that her ennui with life has invaded her latest novel, She needs some adventure, something to infuse her work with life, So when she accidentally runs into Elliot again, she begs him to take her along on his next breakin, Unable to turn down this woman, who has starred in his dreams since their one kiss, he agrees to take her along, if she will do exactly as he says.
As they set out, it was not Elliot and Deborah embarking on this adventure, but the Peacock and Bella Donna, The night was exhilarating and served to infuse her work with some much needed sparkle, But though she wants the excitement, she also needs the safety after her treatment at the hands of her husband left her feeling worthless, Elliott wants nothing more than to erase the damage caused by her former husband and prove to her that she is an exciting, vivacious woman that he cannot keep off of his mind.
Will he be able to convince her that there is more to life than what she had with Jeremy
An absolutely delicious tale, OUTRAGEOUS CONFESSIONS OF LADY DEBORAH, the latest novel by gifted author Marguerite Kaye, is a witty, passionfilled historical romance that will warm your heart.
Due to a disastrous marriage, Deborah seems to be living through her alter ego Bella Donna, refusing to live for herself, In the meantime, Elliot has his own problems, suffering from survivors guilt after the death of his friend Henry, His alter ego, the Peacock, has helped him find some meaning in his life, but that was before Deborah came into it, Can they get beyond their issues and have a happy future together As she begins to come out of her shell, her books take on a new dimension.
Brimming with passion, humor, thievery, complex characters, believable dialogue, suspense, romance and true love, this story is delectable, I highly recommend it and look forward to Ms, Kaye's next novel. Do not miss her latest novel, OUTRAGEOUS CONFESSIONS OF LADY DEBORAH!

Lady Deborah Napier, the Dowager Countess of Kinsail, has chosen to live a quiet and solitary life in the years since the early death of her husband.
The miserly funds given to her from her late husband's brother are barely enough to keep her, Thus for some time, she has been using her enormous writing talents by penning erotic novels under an assumed name that have been huge sellers especially to matrons and even some men.
The novels allow her to release her suppressed sexual fantasies squelched by the coldness and cruelty of her late husband, However, the scars from the mental abuse and degradation inflicted upon her over the years by her late husband are many and run deep leaving her convinced she is worthless as a woman.
Elliot Marchmont, a welltodo gentleman had been a solider who had witnessed many deaths and severe wounds of his fellow soldiers, His disgust at the mistreatment and abandonment of wounded soldiers has led
him to become a skilled thief robbing the very people responsible for the disgusting neglect of these men who have so bravely served their country.
Due to her sleeping difficulties during her annual visits to her late husband's home, Deborah likes to take late night walks around the grounds.
She happens upon Elliot escaping a robbery, Her lack of fear of him and her humor intrigues him, As she was so impressed by Elliot's successful robbery, Deborah decides to add a fictitious robbery to the novel she is currently writing, Her editor is so impressed with this additions that he tells her she must add even more of these types of events to guarantee that the book will be a huge seller.
She contacts Elliot to try and convince him to take her on a robbery with him, While they are both drawn to one another sexually, Deborah will not allow herself to give into her attraction to him, He finally complies with her request to accompany him and they undertake a successful robbery that leaves her feeling invigorated and alive, Thus, with changes to the details of the robbery they commit, she adds more fodder to her novel thus ensuring it will be accepted by her editor and guaranteed to sell many copies.
Elliot is unable to stop thinking of Deborah nor she of him, Thus, he contrives a way to enlist her help with writing about the mistreatment and abandonment of wounded soldiers to bring attention to the situation.
With this project for them to undertake, they grow closer and Deborah begins to relax more with Elliot, Finally, the shocking reason for her late husband's treatment of her is finally revealed which allows Deborah to realize she is not at fault for the treatment inflicted upon her during her sad marriage.
Marguerite Kaye has written a delicious and sexually exciting novel chock full of nail biting, edgeoftheseat intrigue that will have the reader unable to put the book down as they have to see what happens in the next chapter.
The sensitive way Ms. Kaye portrays the mental damage incurred by Deborah and the patience and gentleness with which Elliot helps her to work through and understand the reasons for her late husband's treatment of her is very touching indeed.
