wish this was a fullyfledged book instead of a short novella I can always count on Jennifer Blake to write a good book.
I like Jennifer Blake stories and was excited to get one from free from Amazon! I was not disappointed in this one either.
She paints a beautiful picture and creates characters that you love, Her writing is beautiful and the story flows very nicely, Ms. Blake does an outstanding job of building a believable world and creating wonderful characters in a short amount of time.
I held back on giving this onefor a couple of reasons, One, I like a bit more tension in my stories, I like the thrill of the hunt, Second, the language at the end of the story was a little too flowery for me.
Overall, this is an excellent novella and I encourage anyone who likes a straightforward romance with a Happily Ever After to read it!

Beautiful story! Loved it! Awesome
I loved this book from the very beginning.
It is an awesome book, I recommend it to everyone who loves to read, Ebook. Jan
AnneMarie is the odd girl out you might say, the shy different girl from the other belle of the balls.
Lucien aka Dark Angel is the ultimate bad boy your mother warned you about, However AnneMarie tames the Dark Angel as she did her panther, . . Through love and possibly shrimp puffs, lol,
Anyways it was a good quick read, Minor defects but can be overlooked except when Lucien takes AnneMarie driving, they left with a single drawn chase yet down the road they had a team and a wagon, not sure how that came about but they safely arrived home with chase and the grey made they originally left with.
I loved the story and characters, The mother, I think, was just a plain pain the butt, The panther friend was unique and great for the story, Absolutely love it!
What a wonderful story! I love the writing, the plot and the characters! Such a surprise.
I will definitely be recommending this book! Just a lovely story, Free on Amazon . Approximate print length:pages
This was a nice little novella that I enjoyed, I will look for more from this author, Historical romance set in Louisiana, I am surprised how much I enjoy this story, I like both the hero and heroine who are sensible characters, I was especially moved by the conversation they had at their wedding night, The way the hero express his love was beautiful,
I think that historical romance may be growing on me, I was never a huge fan, but the more I read, the more I actually like.
Out of the Dark is one of the books that is helping to change my mind.
AnneMarie is a strong woman who doesnt seem to care what others think about her strangeness.
Maybe thats the mind set that kept me from liking historical fiction to begin with, Women living in this era are supposed to be seen and not heard, They are treated as trophies and not allowed to be their own person, at least not in public.
And they certainly arent supposed to be able to tame a wild panther with something sinister in their personality.
Those kinds of things could get a woman shunned, Funny, those are the kinds of things that made me like her as a character, Theyre also what drew Lucien to her,
Lucien was also misunderstood, He wasnt at all what he appeared to be, at least on the surface, There was much more to him than the duelist with a lethal reputation,
Out of the Dark was a short, sweet historical romance that was a nice fast read and just a little bit of heat.
Perfect for a quick summer read, I liked the book. It had a good, solid storyline and got out of the starting gate with lightning speed.
Alas, the last couple chapters sort of petered out, They just needed more substance to work, The characters were strong, opinionated and likeable, but their relationship got too "lovey dovey" and sickly sweet at the end.
Their love wasn't hard fought for as the beginning clearly led the reader to believe, It just needed more savory to go with the sweet at the end to give the conclusion more body and soul.
I will not bother going into more detail as the description of the book is exactly what it says.
An entertaining read if you have nothing more meaty to sink your teeth into.
Free today. Lucien Roquelaire, known as the Dark Angel, is intrigued by shy AnneMarie Decoulet, Even more so when at a society party, she feeds an injured swamp panther from her hand and leads it outside.
She refuses to play society games, and tells him politely, that she is indifferent to him.
But she does notice how handsome he is, They trade barbs on the dance floor before the panther interrupts the party,
The next day, he pays a visit to her stepmother,
Parents among the French aristocracy of New Orleans took careful note of such a wild past, however.
It did not give him a good opinion of Madame Decoulet to realize she was willing to welcome a libertine, gamester, and notorious duelist into the family in order to be rid of her stepdaughter.

Ouch hes a bit too self aware, eh
He is fascinated by this part Native American girl, more so when he discovers she has raised the panther from a kit.
She named it Satan.
She is unaware of her beauty, She cant believe that he might actually be in love with her,
But he makes her an offer she cant refuse marry him and hell save her panther.
She met his gaze, her own shadowed yet valiant, “Not at all. I should not say so, perhaps, but I have often thought that you remind me of Satan.
When you are with me, II feel for you some of the same wonder, know the same joy that you might need my care or my affection.
Are you offended”
“God, no,” he said in low fervor as he moved to her with steady strides and caught her hands.
