Thorough overview of evolutionary theory, I read this book in Taxonomy of vascular plants with Dr, Rothrock. It was one of the most eyeopening classes and books of my education so far because it challenged my beliefs about origins and literal interpretation of Genesis.
This challenge, in an environment where my professors are both Christian and believe in old earth science, which through my exploration, reading, and honest logical pursuit is true science.
There are huge amounts of evidence supporting old earth and evolution, but unlike the most published Christians' believe science is not at odds with Christianity and the

"war" they fight is misapplied and gives us a bad name.
How we have acted and continue to act resembles the Vatican's stubborn ignorance about how the earth was flat or the universe revolved around the earth.
We have always been quick to put God in a box and slow to learn humility, I'm sad that we as a people, even the intelligent, well read scholars, have been hoodwinked by people who don't respect science or evidence.
I am being over harsh and writing without grace, I doubt people are doing this intentionally, but it is painful for me to discover this area of my own life.
I have always felt that we should be humble about origins, now I better realize why, Everyone should be humble about origins, from both sides, because there is so little that we know or can know, even as science digs deeper.
It is sad that Christians are fighting on mushy ground without a shred of good argument, intelligent design included unfortunately, He is not proven by the gaps in knowledge we stand on, for those will diminish, instead he is revealed through truth, wherever it is found, including scientific knowledge and all other aspects of nature and scripture.
Instead of ruling God out of the picture, science only points to the findings of a humble body of ever expanding knowledgenot to say there aren't worldview issues in Naturalism, but Naturalsim is not science, no more than Christianity is.
We must not make God a measurable part of his Creation, for he is beyond and through that shallow view, Science cannot and will not prove God, and if it did how godlike would that make us feel, cornering God in his own universe.
May the mystery of Him always be a heart decision, for we will wrestle with our finite prideful heads forever, God have mercy.
Most of the ideas I wrestled with here are not from this book , they were from the EXCELLENT book Biology Through the Eyes of Faith by Richard T.
Wright. It's a well distributed book around the CCCU, As an introduction to principles of evolution, this text is useful for general evolution or as a supplement for general biology, genetics, zoology, botany, anthropology or any life science course that utilizes evolution as the underlying theme of all life.
