“Do you ever wish you could take something back the instant you say it? One moment Bishop and I were kissing under the moonlight, and then I had to go and open my big fat mouth.”

The bodycount rises in the next chapter of Anja’s afterlife and not in a good way. Anja finds herself attracting a lot of attention from the police and the vampire community alike, and now she’s got a stalker making her life difficult at every turn. At her side is darkly intense Bishop, but how long will their happiness last once her absent Sire reappears? To complicate things, it’s getting increasingly difficult to keep up the façade of humanity among her family and friends, and her school keeps expecting her to go to classes… What’s a vampire to do when ice cream therapy proves ineffective?

Torn between the man she loves and the primal lure she feels towards Jakob, Anja must fight for what she wants… just as soon as she figures out what that is.

Meet Me When the Sun Goes Down (Forged Bloodlines, #2) Reviews

I jumped into this, the second book in the series without any doubt... I instantly finished reading book #1 and found myself one-clicking my way to the next one, simply because I HAD to know what happen next with Anja and Bishop, Jakob and the rest of the cast....
For a second book in a series, this one was pretty awesome. It had all the right elements: the plot got richer, we got to know the characters better and were introduced to new ones, there's a mystery around our girl, someone is trying to harm her... theres drama, action, guns, blood but what didn't allow me to give this book a five-star rating was two things: #1 the hot and cold rollercoaster love-ride anja and Bishop seem to be stuck in.
I mean...will you please make up your freaking mind?? and #2 the way the author played Jakob as the other part in this triangle love affair... I felt he deserved a better antagonistic role !!!
Let me add I am not going to jump into book # 3 as quickly as I did before...........sorry Bishop !!

Sometimes, Anja's life seems like one cringe-worthy night out, like when you lose your phone, fall off the sidewalk, and fart in between songs at the bar. When all you want is for the guy you like to notice your existence, and NOT just because of the aforementioned noisy fart at the bar.

Anja and I had a rough relationship in book #1, by book #2 we found ourselves in a cozy headlock. Okay, I'm mostly joking. I really warmed up to Anja in Meet Me. I was rooting for her to win, to get her well-deserved night out where everything goes right.

Bishop even proves to have stand-up intentions, becoming more emotionally available. Not completely, but it's a start. It was painful to live through Anja's back-to-back rejections. In this second installment, the reader is given hope that Bishop is more than a bag of unmentionable phalluses waiting to pick a fight. He still isn't my favorite, but the tender moments and candid talks pave the way for something resembling a relationship. There is hope for Bishop. Anja's maker, Jakob, remains mysterious and intriguing, waiting in the wings. My favorite for now, though I have a feeling he has a darker side than we've been shown.

While Anja's social climb in the vampiric underworld was a positive development, my one real gripe would have to be the scene when her parents show up in the dean's office to tell her just how worried they are about her waning grades and attendance -Not to mention how upset they would be if they knew just how much blood she was drinking or how often she got someone killed. In reality, no matter who is paying for one's college courses, no one -and I mean NO ONE- will be given access to your records. Believe me, my friend's parents once tried it. You don't make it past the secretary at the front desk.

Overall, the storyline flowed well and leaves readers geared up for an adventure in book #3, which I will be reading as soon as I finish a few projects of my own. My feelings toward Anja started out a bit rocky, but I've grown to like her inquisitive and, at times, naive nature. Maybe she embodies that inner voice in all of us. The one that makes us second guess ourselves even as we refuse to give up.

The first book had a few slow moments but there was some pretty good potential. Unfortunately this second book became a snooze fest for me. It was such a slow moving book with areas that were simply unnecessary.

I saw one review on Amazon that said watching paint dry was faster and I have to agree. This writer and her style is just not for me. I won't be reading any future installments of this! I prefer less extra wording and a faster moving pace with page turners. The only reason I turned the page for this was in hopes it would be THE END!

** SPOILER ALERT!!!!* The premise of this book was to figure out who was trying to kill Anja or d0 harm to her in some way. Yet the bulk of the book wasn't even about that and when it finally came back to it they literally caught the villain and had dispensed with them in a matter of what seemed like a few pages! As casually as reading about Anja placing her blood in the microwave! smh...

Just sums up the book for me. There are just SO MANY WAY BETTER books out there.. not wasting my time on this series ever again! Even if it becomes free!

After reading "Wake Me When the Sun Goes Down" my feelings were a little ambivalent. So I decided to read book two,"Meet Me When the Sun Goes Down" before making up my mind on whether or not to continue on with the series. I will admit there are several things about book two that I loved but there are also a few things I struggled with as well.

Anja is being held in high esteem by all the vamps at the bar because they believe she killed Kursik. She is not about to tell anyone anything different at this time. She and Bishop are making progress towards a relationship but her grades at school continue to be sub parr.

Then Anja's apartment is broken into and her belongings are trashed. Now she has to figure out a way to buys New things with no money as well as try to figure out who has it in for her. Things are about to get very complicated in her life and she is going to have to stand her grounds if she is to survive.

The things I loved about this read was getting better acquainted with Anja's sister, the club scene and the ease of the writing style. I also loved the face to face confrontation with the bad guy. No, I will not say who it is but what I loved was the scene was not talked too death. Most confrontations with villains involve excessive dialogues and I find myself shouting just kill them already! This was not the case here and it was refreshing.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, one of the things that truly bugged me was the lack of ' hot romance' between Anja and Bishop. When an author postpones love making for so long with characters and makes the reader wait it had better be really hot when it does happen. Unfortunately, the sex scene between these two can only be best described as lukewarm. I was truly disappointed especially after waiting series long for it to occur.

I am still not a fan of the love triangle situation but here's hoping future installments will eliminate it all together. However, I have a feeling it is going to be several more books before that happens. Oh well, we will see.

This is the second book in the Forged Bloodlines series. This one picks up exactly where the first one left off.
Anja is a newly turned vampire, but she is different from other "noobs". She is strong and faster and her blood tests show her to be much older than she is. Her sire, Jakob has not yet stepped up to claim her as his. So Bishop, an enforcer with the Order has stepped in to mentor her into her new life. Jakob is an "Ellri" an elder of sorts, he is one of the first vampires, he was born not made. That also makes him something of royalty to the vampire community. As such he is not answerable to their laws.
Anja is finally settling in to her new life and still trying to fit into her old one as well. She is attending college on a music scholarship. She and Bishop have come to an understanding about their relationship, and so far no interference from Jacob.
But somebody in the vampire community is not happy with Anja. They have broken into her apartment and destroyed everything, left the blinds open so she was burned while she slept, some of her classmates have turned their back on her spreading viscous rumors about her, and attacked her sister.
To complicate things, Jakob shows up and what to spend time with her. Which means Bishop has to break it off with her. He cant lay claim to her when she belongs to Jakob.
I liked this second book as much as the first. I really like the characters, and the stories are well written. We were left with a bit of a cliff hanger that sets up the next book. I look forward to how Anja and Bishop with work through this new bump in their road.

Book 2 just starts rolling where book 1 left off.

Everyone thinks Anja is one bad ass girl, since they think she killed Kursik. Of course, Anja seems to attract danger and this time someone is out to get her or at least all her clothing...being a poor college student, Anja had to sell her collectable Captain America doll for some fast cash.

Meet Jakob, gorgeous hunk with golden surfer boy looks. He steps briefly into Anja's life, but won't claim her in public. At least she knows who her sugar daddy is. Unfortunately this gives Bishop some competition to claim her himself, so instead he continues to act like an asshat. His love/hate feelings for her is getting pretty stale no matter how Anja throws herself at him. Really?

Meet Rob, he isn't quite human, he's a mystery. It's weird that he's dating Bridget, when he seems to have a lot more in common with Anja with all his little geekiness. He's a guy you love to have as a friend and someone just to hang out with.

Meet Mason, Bishop's friend and partner of the Order. He's also dating Anja's sister Hannah, comical!

Poor Anja, it's tough being a noob and even harder trying to get up in the daytime to get to classes on time. Lots of bumps and hiccups in Anja's life, it's what keeps the story an interesting read.

    Bring on Book 3!
The elusive sire has been found!
Bishop had let Anja know that he cares about her, but Jakob is her sire, and the bad blood between Bishop and Jakob is enough to keep him away.
Anja is still learning and coming into her powers but she has not quite gotten her blood thirst under control the way she wants, and it seems that everyone has it out for her. People around her start dying, or being attacked and all fingers are pointing at her or because of her but why, and who is behind this?
Bishop has given up on having a relationship with Anja, because he knows what will happen in the end. Anja decides she wants to know her sire better and agrees to go out with Jakob. But after a near death experience, Bishop decides he can’t live without her.
This book was one mystery after another, but the author kept you on the edge of your seat through most of it. It was fast paced and spell binding throughout. So as I said in the beginning, Bring on Book 3!

This is Book 2 of the Forged Bloodlines series. Anja and Bishop still hot and cold with Anja being needy. Anja's acquaintances are dead shortly after talking to her. Detective Lucas is getting more and more suspicious. It's basically about this newbie vamp still trying to pretend that she's much older than she is since an ancient Ellri vamp sired her. This vamp,,Jakob, tries to call her in emphasis on tries. The action really picks up at the end as the mystery is solved. Jakob is especially dangerous and one wonders how long his patience will last.

  • Tina

The plot is a bit weak and I gotta say...I like Jacob more than I like Bishop. Bishop just doesn't have much appeal; he just seems weak and his back and forth feels like a plot device more than an emotional pull and it's wearing.

The books aren't expensive, so I'll try the next one as the world is interesting and some of the characters are interesting even if Bishop is kind of a bore.

  • A. Fae

Bravo Ms. Olsen. The second book was just as good as the first. The development of not only the cast of characters but of the vampire world and their customs was awesome. Although the back and forth between Anja and Bishop grates on my nerves a bit, it begins to make sense the further I read. Again, the subtle touch of romance is refreshing!

  • Pam James

OK so This book just kept drawing me in. Could not put it down. Anja has so many adventure's Bishop has to keep saving her. Oh! An she finally meets her Sire!!! So exciting. Totally edge of the seat book. Please do yourself a favor & get your copy now! I have to keep reading onto the next book... From a true Fan... Pam James.

  • Runningrabbit

Yep, thought this was great, even though, at times, the heroine is pretty bloody annoying. I suppose too, at a couple of stages I felt there were some contradictions in her personality, although I didn't really feel that this was much of a distraction in the book. Going straight on to book 3.

  • Michelle Jones

Lisa's 2nd book in the forged bloodlines series is just as fantastic as the 1st! Love to see the return of many of my favourite characters from book 1. This series is fast becoming one of my favourites,I strongly recommend this series to any who have not yet read it.

  • Kristy

I want my own Jakob! Great read!

  • Mary

The character, Bridget, is just hilarious. I think I have a couple of friends like her....funny, smart, and not phased by anything.

  • Megan Way

I love this series. The relation between Anja and Bishop is so romantic but you can tell there's more than just Bishop that has it real bad for Anja. I'm going to keep reading.

  • Mary E

Loved this book. I enjoyed watching Anja and Bishop come together finally. Also learning more about her Sire. I cancan't wait to read the next one. Very well done.
