Avail Yourself The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes For A Healthy Life Scripted By Ellie Krieger Displayed As Copy

of the recipes sound delicious, although some are a bit more involved than what I am looking for at this stage in my life.
Having small children, I'm looking for healthy amp fast, Maybe I will come back to this cookbook one day,

I decided to order instead, Robin Rescues Dinner:Weeks of QuickFix Meals,Recipes, and a Realistic Plan to Get Weeknight Dinners on the Table by Robin Miller.

I didn't expect to like this book nearly as well as I do, I started bookmarking the recipes I wanted to copy and there were so many only/of the way through that I am going to buy the sucker instead.

Nice photography, good layout, good recipes that are enticing but not overwhelming for a weeknight dinner.
Very nice breakfast suggestions. Dessert section is a little weak, but that's an area I have NO problem with, : I've had this book for awhile now, but I've just started cooking the recipes and I LOVE it! One of my favorite cook books.
I decided to expand my repertoire a little when it comes to reviewing and every now and then, review another passion of mine.
. . great cookbooks. For someone who used to mistakenly put cabbage, instead of lettuce, on her nephew's sandwich, and stuck a whole can of tomato soup in the microwave without water, something finally clicked when I moved to Philadelphia.
No longer does my poor husband get acourse meal of meat, potato, and vegetable servedminutes apart.
Now I pride myself on being able to put a delicious, healthy meal on the table in less thanminutes.

Ellie Krieger's "The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life" is by far, my favorite cookbook.
Ellie is a Food Network personality, but first and foremost, a nutritionist, She believes that food can be healthy and full of flavor if you just make some minor adjustments.
Shop the perimeter of your grocery store, and revel in all of the delicious fruits, vegetables, herbs, meats, seafood, and dairy.
Who wants to eat the "chemistry experiments" in the middle of the store If you can't pronounce it, don't put it in your body.

My favorite recipes include ApplePecan Muffins with applesauce substituting for butter, Scrumptious Scramble, Blueberry Blast Smoothie which my husband asks for all the time, the Roasted Red Pepper and Walnut Dip which I use with chicken, Lemon Pepper Grilled Shrimp, Spaghetti with Turkey Meatballs in Spicy Tomato Sauce, and Vanilla Hot Cocoa once you taste this, your days of drinking the powdery stuff will be over.

Many recipes include a picture for easy following, Here's to your health. You will not be disappointed,

The photography is a little stodgy, but the recipes are interesting! Ellie Krieger has a perspective on cooking.
She begins by saying Page: "Like you, I crave food that is bursting with flavor and aroma, Food that draws you in and leaves you satisfied, Guess what That kind of food can be healthy, " Thus, she is proposing a cookbook that features dishes that are both delicious and healthy,

Some key points up front: buy fresh food, stay away from foods with lots of additives, keep salt to a minimum, and so on.
Pagesprovide information on key nutrients and what ought to be in a well stocked pantry I have more of these items than not!.
The book, then, moves to recipesBreakfast Nibbles amp Noshes Soups amp Sandwiches Main amp Side Salads Pasta, Pizza, amp Grains The Main Course Sides Desserts.

Recipes are doable and look very tasty! Breakfast The "New York Breakfast" features simple toppings such as cream cheese, smoked salmon, red onion, cucumber, tomatoes over toasted pumpernickel bread.
I want to make this in the near future, Sounds yummy! "Scrumptious Scramble" features scrambled eggs with tomatoes, onions, dill, etc, Looks easy to make and, again, seems like it would be great! Another dish that I want to make.

Noshes and Nibbles There are a bunch I'd like to mention, but I'll stick to just one that I find quite appealing.
Grilled zucchini RollUps with Herbs and Cheese, " This looks really neatand pretty easy to make, Grill thinly sliced zucchini place on each slice goodies such as goat cheese, lemon juice, parsley, spinach leaves, and so on.
The peanut soup recipe also looks cool and I expect to make this, too, in the near future.
Simple point: I love reading cookbooks where I find myself saying "I want to make that soon, "

Main dishes Some that look pretty appetizing to me: Pork Medallions with Cherry Sauce, Tuscan Roasted Chicken and Vegetables.
And so on and so on,

In short, this is not a great visually appearing cookbook, But it has a host of recipes that look awfully tasty! This cookbook is really great so far.
I've probably made aboutof the recipes, and I'd say easilyof them I would make again, Which is a pretty good ratio for a cookbook, in my opinion, Her recipes are healthy, but much more importantly, they TASTE GOOD, And, for the most part, the ingredients are not marthastewart crazy, they are actually accessible, I just ended up buying it instead of copying the recipes I like, because I have a feeling its one I will keep referring to over the years.
Awardwinning cookbook author, popular TV host, registered dieticiannutritionistEllie Krieger wears many hats, However, what she really does best is to offer up scrumptious, flavorful food made good and healthy with no artificial ingredients, no weird stuff you can't find and wouldn't eat anyway, and no deprivation of the sensory pleasures of enjoying your food.
In "The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life", in addition to the many delicious recipes, you will find a complete nutritional analysis for each dish, ideas for healthier ways to eat and cook, and a guide to essential nutrients.
Here are just some of the cravingssatisfyers included: "AppePecan Muffins" "New York Breakfast" "CherryVanilla Oatmeal" "Soft Asian Summer Rolls with Sweet and Savory Dipping Sauce" "Spiced Mixed Nuts" "Warm Spinach and Artichoke Dip" "Summer Corn and Vegetable Soup" "Tuscan Vegetable Soup" "Sloppy Joes" "Savory Chinese Chicken Salad" "Spinach Salad with Warm Bacon Dressing" "Tomatoes with Green Goddess Dressing" "Linguine with Shrimp and Vegetables" "Macaroni and Four Cheeses" "Tomato, Olive, and Parmesan Pizza" "GreekStyle Stuffed Peppers" "Peppercorn Pork with Wine Sauce" "Chicken Pot Pie with Phyllo Crust" "Baked Shrimp with Tomatoes and Feta" "Jewel Roasted Vegetables" "Green Beans with Mushrooms and Shallots" "Zucchini Parmesan Crisps" "Banana Cream Pie" "Mocha Cake with Mocha Cream Cheese Frosting" "PearGinger Crumble" "Dark Chocolate Mousse" and "Vanilla Hot Cocoa".

But this book is much more than a collection of recipes, It's a new way of looking at food a fresh approach to eating that gives you the flavor and satisfaction you crave in a healthier way.

Here's a little taste of the philosophy behind every delicious recipe in The Food You Crave.

Keeping it Fresh Most of the recommended foods and ingredients are fresh as close to their original state as possible which makes them tastier and healthier

Keeping it Real Recipes steer clear of foods with artificial additives or a list of ingredients that read like a chemistry experiment to protect your health

In The Food You Crave, you'll find dozens of healthy recipes that are bursting with flavor for everyday meals that will make you feel great.
LOVE this cookbook. Using whole foods, but cutting down on bad fats, etc, Ellie Krieger has created delicious, healthful dishes, I've made many of these recipes and most of them are delicious I especially love the fettuccine with walnuts and parsley, the baked shrimp with tomatoes and feta, the confetti chili, and the pumpkin pie muffins.
I love that more often than not, these recipes can be prepared fairly quickly, so it's a good cookbook for even a busy cook.
The nutritional information per serving is listed with each recipe, which I also appreciate, The only complaint I have about this book is that it could use more pictures, There are quite a few, but I'm the kind of cook who likes a picture for every recipe.
With a good turnout of participants and some who brought more than one dish, we were able to taste a large number of recipes from this cookbook.

They included

Sloppy Joes
Sweet and Spicy Grilled Cheese
Tomato and Onion Salad
Salmon Patties with Ginger Sauce
Grilled Zucchini, Goat Cheese and Spinach
Cornmeal Ratatouille Tart
All Day Breakfast Salad
Spiced Nuts
Energy Bars
Whole Wheat Pasta Salad
Rhode Island Clam Chowder
Rice Pudding
Triple Chocolate Cookies
Tomato Stuffed Peppers
Ricotta Cheesecake with Raspberries
Asian French Spring Rolls

Overall, we enjoyed most of these recipes.
The exception being the Sloppy Joes which we all thought lacked enough spice and was too much like chili.
One participant suggested that the beans be made into a paste to help hold it together, Four other recipes had very mixed reviews, . . Energy Bars, Pasta Salad, Rice Pudding and Tomato Stuffed Peppers, . . some liked them, some disliked them very much and some thought they were just soso,

We liked that the recipes did not span more thanfacing pages, but we would have liked more photos, larger font size and darker print.

The recipes were well written, and ingredients

were fairly easy to find at our local grocery stores.

A great cookbook, especially as I'm transitioning to becoming a vegetarian, Krieger emphasizes the use of the freshest ingredients for maximal nutrient density, . . one of the concepts you'll learn, specifically fruits, vegetables, fish and healthy poultry and dairy, You don't feel deprived because the recipes translate to flavorful and colorful foods with enough textures to satisfy even the pickiest of palates.
I love reading cookbooks but it's rare for me to find one that I really love, This is a great cookbook, Ellie Krieger is both a dietician and a cook, which means that most of her recipes are healthy and taste awesome.
I've only tried a few recipes but they've all been great, I recommend the ApplePecan Muffins, Oven Fried Chicken, Vanilla Hot Chocolate, and Grilled Zucchini and Hummus Wraps, I'll let you know about some of the others as I try them, Ellie is a dream come true: a nutritionist who loves good food, relies on real, whole ingredients, and understands the siren call of creamy, cheesy, salty foods in our lives.

I rely on this cookbook to provide food that is healthy and nutritious and still hits all the flavor bells and comfort spots.
She has such a great knack for mixing highflavor foods with highnutrition foods and I only wish I could have her in my kitchen to help me alter every recipe I own.

Something I really like about this book is it gives not just calories, fat, fiber and the standard "diet" information, but it gives you the nutritional profile: micronutrients and vitamins, what types of fats, etc.
It also includes lots of tips for how to makes changes in your regular cooking style,

I am a very experienced home cook, I cook from scratch all the time, I loathe "diet" food or "fake" food fatfree dressings, sugarfree, etc and this has NONE of that, This is real food, combined to be healthy and delicious, It is a great cookbook, .
