An interesting poet. She wrote this while studying in Chicago and, thus, the book is an interesting mix of Chicago reality and Philippine reflections. Some lovely and fascinating images. While the poetry can be appreciated by any English speaker, having a connection to the Philippines would unleash an deeper level of appreciation. Alas, I have never spent time in those islands.
