riveting pageturner by a new author to me, This story grabbed me from the first page, The mystery wasn't solved until nearly the last page and kept me guessing the whole way through the book, Very enjoyable romance, too! This is a great story that had me turning the pages to find out what was happening when wise woman Mia gets caught up with a man that hurts her The Earl Simon who has loved Mia forever saves her and this starts a wonderful journey to a HEA.
This one is sensual and very enjoyable both Mia and Simon have issues they need to overcome and I loved it, Three!

I really liked the steamy sex scenes in this story, However, I felt just like the first story in the series, it seemed to drag on somewhat, One and a half almost, but not enough to round up to two, . . at first I did give it two, because I have read worse, but then I thought again and it felt too generous, since I really didn't like it at all.


The main problem with this book is that it's just not very well written, It reads like bad fanfiction, but at least even bad fanfiction has characters that you like, In this book the characters are not written well enough to be likeable or even interesting, For a "wise woman" Mia is astonishingly naïve and ignorant, For a supposedly intelligent man Simon acts like an idiot and is constantly distracted by lascivious thoughts to the point that he thinks "dammit!" and has to physically shake himself in order to concentrate on the conversation at hand.
Yes, it is really written that way, and not just once or twice,

The overall plot is neither exciting nor very romantic, not to mention believable, Historical accuracy in the details and the way people talk isn't one Kelley's strong points, either, A wee unrealistic elements in this book

Earl married a way beneath his station during this time period, . hmmm. . but since this CK's book so the story was well written plus I was hoping to see Selena and North more but one can only hope.


Seandainya novel ini lebih digarap dgn lebih mendalam, mungkin hasilnya jauh lebih baik, Dibuka dgn Mia Featherstone yg lagi dianiaya seorg bajingan dan diselamatkan oleh Simon, Earl of Hartafield, Tetiba Mia yg sedang recovery dari luka² penganiayaan tsb, dilamar si earl, yg gak peduli status sosial Mia yg jauh lbh rendah, dan Mia jg gak pny duit alias mahar.
Pdhl estat Simon sangat membutuhkan uang krn Simon ternyata menderita diskalkulia alias gak bisa berhitung, Ternyata inilah salah satu kelebihan Mia yg dipuja Simon, wanita ini jago berhitung, Sayangnya author lupa memberikan contoh sejauh mana si Mia ini memang hebat berhitung, Maklum jaman dulu kan blm ada kalkulator,

Seperti timbal balik, keunggulan Mia dlm berhitung itu boleh dibilang kompensasi dari Simon yg mengajari Mia membela diri jika diserang bajingan lagi.
Mia ini keberuntungannya sangat tinggi, ibarat Cinderella alias pembantu dirinya berhasil menikahi Simon, walaupun ibu mertua kurang setuju juga kurang "menggigit" perannya, tanggung banget sbg salah satu pemeran antagonist nya.
Entah author ingin mengagungkan martabat Mia kalau dipikirpikir lagi nih heroine gak pny kelebihan apapun kecuali semangat bercintanya yg luar biasa, ada adegan bloopers mnrt saya, dmn Mia menolak dinikahi krn terlambat datang bulan, tetapi krn Simon gak tahan, mereka pun tancap gas melakukan hubungan intim.
Dan setelah itu, paginya Mia mendapatkan datang bulannya, Halleluya!!!!



Selain itu, topik plot utama adalah menemukan siapa sbnrnya

bajingan yg menganiaya Mia, tetapi masalah ini malah digampangkan solusinya.
Begitu pula masalah Simon yg diskalkulia juga diremehkan, Sampai ending, saya gak melihat upaya dan usaha Mia utk mengatasi keuangan estat Simon pengecualian dgn menggali harta karun terpendam di tanah milik Simon, dan kalau hal ini saja yg dijadikan tindakan penyelamatan keuangan, gak heran Simon bakal miskin selamalamanya.

Another wise woman Regency romance

A nice combination of Regency era aristocratic themes and just a touch of lightly witchfriendly wise woman traditions.
I found it to be a pleasant read for those who like a strong, modernish heroine and a sturdy hero with just enough issues to be interesting without being too flawed.

Mia Featherstone has found some treasures on the Earl of Hartsfield's property and her lover has found out and wants a piece of it.
Mia isn't about to give up the location of the pieces and soon finds herself beaten up and fearing for her life,

Since her lover doesn't seem to want to get anywhere near the Earl's property, Mia makes a run for it and is soon rescued by the Earl himself.


The Earl, Simon Blakesworth, takes Mia to his home to protector her and to give her time to recover, He further offers his protection to Mia by asking her to marry him, Unbeknownst to Mia, Simon has been in love with her for years and he sees this as the opportunity to make her his.


Since she has had a lover, Mia tells Simon that she must wait to marry until she is sure she is not carrying another man's baby.
Mia is also sure that once Simon finds out that she was stealing from him, he will want nothing to do with her even though the proceeds from the sale of the items went to his tenets.


As they try to solve the mystery of the true identity of Mia's lover, it gets harder and harder for Simon to resist Mia's charms.
She is all he has ever wanted and she is almost his, Will Simon forgive Mia for her theft Will Simon confess that he is in love with Mia

I really enjoyed the storyline.
It was not your traditional historical romance as Mia was not of the same class as Simon, I even enjoyed the characters tremendously, But having said that, there were times that I thought the writing was very amateurish, I also didn't like that facts about another couple kept coming up like they were in a previous novel, only to find out that their story hadn't been written at least I couldn't find it anywhere on the author's webpage.
If there are that many details about another couple, I want to be able to read about them personal pet peeve!
