Win Remember Me, Cowboy (Coffee Creek, Montana Book 1) Compiled By C.J. Carmichael Disseminated As Paper Copy
good book. But so sad and heartbreaking, it was also sweet and romantic, I wanted to reach in shake or slap Colby lol, MEN! anyways a very good read, can't wait for more from this series, cj has a real style to her writing that makes whatever she's written a good read, I felt sorry for Winnie and the dog, My mother always put a romance novel in my Christmas stocking so that Id have something to read in front of the fire on Christmas Day.
As an adult, Ive kept the tradition although I pick up the book myself these days, No one does sentimental romance better than CJ Carmichael so thats what I read on Christmas night after everyone was asleep.
Ms Carmichael didnt disappoint with her novel, “Remember Me, Cowboy,” in which she uses the traditional romance trope of amnesia and a marriage of convenience in a modern and compelling way.
To avoid spoilers, let me just say, I was in tears at Chapterand didnt get to bed until I reached The End.
If this is the start of her Coffee Creek series, I cant wait to read the next one,
I have no idea why, but I had it in my head that this would play out much differently.
I LOVE an amnesia story scenario where a wannabe/ex OW tries to take advantage of the Hs missing memories by adding her own version of truth.
I dont care if its soapy like sitelinkThe Greek's Christmas Baby or even paranormal like sitelinkTwice as HotI just really love this dynamic, so if you know of anyplease forward your recommendations.
Ok, well needless to say, Remember Me Cowboy did NOT follow this storyline, so that was disappointing, but really my own fault for making ASSumptions.
I did have trouble really narrowing down a “feel” for the book, It has some soapy elements like getting amnesia from a moose accident, but then the mcs didnt act like soap opera characters either.
For instance, we know from the blurb that Corb doesnt remember the ONS with Laurel shes only in town for the week and he has amnesia, but when he asks her if shes sure the baby is his, shes so offended she stomps off and he just apologizes, and refuses his mothers demand for a paternity testfor the baby that a stranger is stating is his that shit would never fly with HP.
Other parts feel very oldfashioned wholesome, but then the couple handles all their conflicts with fade to black sex.
It felt dated, but she mentions Amy Adams and Ryan Reynolds, . . I couldn't fit into a groove and waffled, Theres some OW drama with catty ex Jacqueline and his pushy mom, but
they go nowhere no confrontation, no comeuppance and then Poofgone.
Bottom Line I read this on OpenLibrary , so Im only out my time, and it was pretty short, so not much of that either.
I didnt really enjoy it, but did push through without skimmingmuch, Corb is a mama's boy, Laurel is bland, and no angst, little drama, no chemistry, and an instaresolution makes for zero feels for Jac.
We're teased with the upcoming mc matchups ups, but I wont be moving on, Wow. I thought the prologue had to be the most emotional aspect of the novel for me, it also set the mood for the entire novel.
I loved that the heroine was brave in the end and didn't marry the hero until he sorted out his shit.
I need to say this novel took two of my favorite type of novels, pregnancy and amnesia, and blended it amazingly.
I had to read it all in one sitting because I couldn't stop reading it,
I desperately want to read about Winnie and her story as well, Do I sense a Jackson in her future He needs someone like Winnie to bring him back to normal, especially since he blames himself for his brother dead, who also happened to be Winnie's fiance and the father of her baby.
Drama, drama, drama! C, J. Carmichael makes writing look easy, This novel was filled with all sorts of juicy tidbits, definitely worth the read, Cowboy romances, they are definitely my guilty pleasure, After all, what's better than some handsome dude on the cover in a cowboy hat The story doesn't even have to be good as long as I can keep flipping back to the cover.
Luckily, the story in this one is decent even if the cover is tantalizing, Although I keep looking at it and forgetting what it is I'm trying to write here, . .
Laurel is in town for her friend's wedding, She hasn't been to Montana for awhile since moving to New York and starting a life there for herself.
But the day of the wedding several members of the party are involved in a terrible accident, Including the man that Laurel slept with at the rehearsal dinner, The man that is the father of her unborn child and now doesn't have a clue who she is due to amnesia.
This is a short romance novel, None of the characters are particularly well developed, There's a lot of hints at their stories and pasts, but nothing is fully fleshed out, And a lot is left hanging this is thest book in a series though, so anything could happen.
We have conflict between characters that is never resolved, and that's a little irritating, Laurel is decent. She starts out knowing what she wants but then kind of has to readjust her whole way of thinking when she finds out she is pregnant.
And I do think that she lets people walk on her too much, Corb didn't have much of a personality,
Sure he does sweet things, but aside from the amnesia, we don't really know that much about him.
It makes it hard to really go crazy for him as a character,
I'm never too tough on romance novel plots, They have to follow a formula and getting the next bestseller out of those kinds of conditions just isn't going to happen.
This one was decent. Rushed, and a lot of conflict thrown in in an attempt to make it interesting, But the amnesia wasn't the usual so I found that unique at least, I also liked the family issues thrown in as they made it seem realistic, This was a regular romance novel so I was surprised to see the romantic parts glossed over, All flash and no bang, It's not necessarily a bad thing, but just surprising, So if you're looking for something descriptive in that realm, it's just not here,
I'll keep reading the series, They are entertaining and I do like my cowboys, For the first in a series, it wasn't a bad start,

More of my reviews can be found at sitelinkwww, ifithaswords. blogspot. com Good book. Laurel can't believe that Corb can't remember anything about their time together, Now she's pregnant and Corb wants to marry her, Laurel is still in love with him, but he hasn't said anything to her about love, I really liked Laurel. I loved her closeness with her friend, She came to town to be with her friend Winnie as she prepared to marry Corb's brother Brock, When Brock was killed and Corb hurt in an accident on their wedding day, Laurel stayed to help Winnie.
She says yes to Corb's proposal knowing that she is in love with him but not sure about his feelings.
He appears to care but has never said anything, But as the wedding gets closer she starts to have doubts especially when he never seems to stand up to his mother on her behalf.
Corb is attracted to Laurel and when he finds out about the baby he has no trouble asking her to marry him.
There is something about her that just feels right to him, He is trying very hard to remember the past and their time together to the point where he forgets to pay attention to his current feelings.
He also feels guilty about surviving the crash when his brother didn't and goes overboard in giving in to his mother's every request.
I did not like the way he didn't put Laurel first, I was glad to see him finally come through in the end, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series to see how things work out with the other stories.
I don't like Olive's attitude toward Winnie and Laurel and I really want someone to call her on it.
I expect that there is more to the story between Olive and her sister than Olive said, and I don't think it is all Maggie's fault.
I also want to know more about Jackson who I suspect is in love with Winnie, .
