Con alcune piccole differenze siamo di fronte a quello che si può solo definire “Plagio”, Era impossibile riprodurre le atmosfere inquietanti, i sospetti, il fine approfondimento psicologico del romanzo della Du Maurier, ed infatti la Mallory butta tutto sul romance spiccio e lo fa con una certa delicatezza che ho apprezzato, con una scrittura che non annoia e senza pretendere troppo da se stessa.

I loved The Scarlet Gown, It's a wonderful book about a fierce young woman who has to pretend she's someone she isn't, Lucy has to make everyone believe that she's Ralph's fiancée in exchange for new gowns, a few weeks of luxury and a large sum of money, It sounds like the perfect job and she loves her surroundings, but Ralph isn't always easy to be around, I liked the battles they fought together and how Lucy kept trying to be strong and independent, Her curiosity is wonderful. Ralph is an intelligent and handsome man, he's definitely an intriguing main character, The story is very romantic and it has a great plot, I liked it a lot, Lucy was delightful, I just love her, She's strong, willful and quick witted,
Ralph was a cool hero, A bit grumpy yes, sometimes managed to put his foot in his mouth, but he apologized right away, if he thought he's in the wrong, He's a passionate man, but not a ho, It's mentioned in the passing that in the two years after his wife died, he refused female company, He's kind but often misunderstood because of his highhanded ways,
I think the author successfully build a scorching sexual tension from their interaction, when they'are arguing or teasing each other, They have similar interests, and they personalities

were compatible,
Just my kind of romance, Took one star away because the cover didn't give a clue that there was a sex scene to skip, The cover makes it look like a sweet romance, Enjoyable read from start to end, This is a sweet romance that starts with Lucy taking up the role of pretend fiancee in Ralph's estate, He's trying to uncover who killed his wife and she's happy to leave her ward's home, Th best part of the book is that Ralph is very careful and anticipatory of Lucy's needs, It breathes life into his character,she's defiant and impulsive, Wonderful read! This novel was better than I thought, The storyline is easy to follow and the clashing personalities of Ralph and Lucy make for pleasant dialogue, It's the perfect book to read on a quiet day, It's not on the list of my favorite romances but it was entertaining, A cracking Gothic tale. Lucy ha perduto tutto. E' costretta a lavorare perché il padre, anche se buono d'animo ed ottimo artista ha dilapidato i soldi della famiglia nel gioco e nell'alcol, Lucy lo viene a scoprire il giorno della morte del genitore, Così accetta la proposta del Barone Adversane: fingere di essere la sua fidanzata, Ma si tratta solo di finzione e che cosa nasconde il Barone Perché lui le sceglie i vestiti da indossare ed anche le pettinature che deve sfoggiare Quando Lucy si trova davanti al ritratto della prima moglie resta sconvolta dalla somiglianza con la moglie.
La morte della prima moglie del Barone è stato davvero un incidente E' stato un suicidio o un omicidio Chi è il colpevole Il Barone è un uomo gentile o un burbero incapace di amare
Ho dato solo due stelle perché in questa tipologia di libro le donne devono sempre essere descritte come creature un po' arroganti e ficcanaso, dedite solo ai vestiti e a i gioielli.
