childhood favourite! Hard to find these days but I have a copy I'd loan anyone who wanted to read it, The best, most vivid, original modern young witch story ever, It was before and better than Harry Potter and is funnier, wittier, more intelligent, and more thrilling, A must read! Yay! I'm glad to see so many people saying exactly what I would have said, . . I read this book SO MANY TIMES when I was a kid, One of my alltime favorites, Luckily, my mom works at my hometown library and was able to snag the copy for me when they retired it, It really deserves a reprinting, I searched for this book for years based on the little I could recall, and it was BETTER than I remembered, Frustrating that this is not more widely available via ebook formats, If this book had come out twenty years later, there would probably have beenmovies and sequels by now, but I treasure rereading it and look forward to sharing it with my nephews too!stars!! Mrs.
Madison read this to our class inth grade and it has been one of my alltime favorites since then, I read it aloud to my brother and sister when we were children, and now to all three of my own kids,
Talk about a smart, brave, seriously badass female hero Suzie is it! I love how she solves every problem with her stellar memory, her cunning, and her wit.
Plus, she is kind to the underdogs, And animals.
So many similarities to Harry Potter but written many years prior, I have to wonder if JK read this book somewhere along the line, Not to diss JK who is one of my faves,
I am sad this book it out of print, I am sad it doesn't have a larger audience, And I am truly sad Jack Lovejoy didn't write more books a sequel or a series were hinted at and clearly warranted, Ah well, a girl could dream,
Please read this book if you can find a copy to your kids, So worth the time! Got this from the library, I may have actually read it as a child, it seemed familiar, Not sure if I finished or liked it then, either, As an adult, it seemed very flat, like there was some dimension missing that it really needed, like

the characters' personalities were there but somehow hollow.
I'm not sure what made it so dull to me, There were certainly things I liked about it, such as the witch teacher not being a stock "wicked witch" she doesn't seem like a great teacher although she is a successful witch, and her student sneaks about behind her back and behaves as if she expects a severe punishment, she doesn't seem particularly mean.
I liked that they lived in Chicago, which seems like the least magical of cities, and escaped by train, I think I checked this book out once a month from the library, when I was a kid,

I would go on and on about it to a dear friend of mine, who then FOUND ME A COPY! Best gift EVER, It's definitely YA, but a very good read, It holds up in the modern world, and is engaging, As a kid I read it countless times, and had to read it all the way through each time, Loved this one, but hard to find, I read this book when I was a child and remembered it fondly, However, when I reread it this January, it didn't hold up, It still gets a good review because I remember it being good when I was a kid, but for me, the best YA has to be just as enjoyable for adults as for children, and unfortunately, The Rebel Witch just wasn't.
With the powerful Wand of the Necromancers in her possession, an apprentice witch tries to prevent the restoration of the days of the dark lore, .
