What a picture Kelly Long can write it felt like I was right there in the story, I just finished the second book in this series, and yes you should read the first, but this can be a read alone, When the first book ended Joseph King was departing the mountain to follow his brother Edward and be there for him,
We find the men working on an oil rig, and living in West Virginia, with Edward continuing some of his bad choices, Joseph is trying to help, but finding Edward often out of control, how can he change him and continues to plead to God,
Joseph has an encounter with a pretty divorced woman and her precociousyear old, who he find out are living in their car, Joseph has let all know that he is not interested in marriage, but does God have other plans
I so enjoyed this book and how you dont see what is coming next.
There is such compassion shown by these people, and makes you want to live here, We revisit the ice mine on this picturesque mountain in Pennsylvania, Loved how some of the evil that is present is shown the hand of God, and dealt with in a loving but firm manner,
This is a fast and enjoyable read, and you should read the first book, it is referenced and continued here, but you can read this one alone, but dont deprive yourself! I cant wait for the next book, and what happens between Edward and Sarah
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington Books and was not required to give a positive review.

The second installment of Longs Ice Mountain series offers a stronger premise for a relationship between the main characters than the first title, but the author continues to focus on the explicit physical details of the romance, which feels very awkward in an Amish story.

Joseph spends his energy trying to keep his wayward younger brother out of trouble, secretly struggling with guilt over a sexual relationship he had as a teen with an older Englisch woman.
Priscilla is running from an abusive exhusband who will stop at nothing to get her back, When Joseph discovers her living in a car with heryearold daughter, he is determined to keep them both safe by bringing them to Ice Mountain, Zebra, May,pp. ,.

MY REVIEW
Amazing writing and such an unusual story for an Amish book, Kelly really mixes the Amish and the Englisch lives in this series, This book takes on a subject that you don't normally read about in a Amish story, There is some sexual content but nothing 'too deep', I am enjoying this series and really looking forward to reading "The Amish Heart of Ice Mountain" when it comes out in October,

Anyone who reads sitelinkAn Amish Man of Ice Mountain should know that sitelinkAn Amish Man of Ice Mountain is not the innocent Amish reading material that we have read before.
The content is need to understand the topic of the book that sitelinkAn Amish Man of Ice Mountain is based around,

sitelinkKelly Long has out done herself with sitelinkAn Amish Man of Ice Mountain, It's not easy taking on a topic that most won't take on themselves to write about, but most readers don't realize it does exist in an Amish communities, Nor is it easy for anyone to talk about either,

Over all, I loved sitelinkAn Amish Man of Ice Mountain, I felt like I was there with the characters experiencing everything they were experiencing and feeling all they were feeling, too which I love to do when I'm reading, I was on my edge of seat, and not wanting to put down my Kindle to sleep, drive my bus, eat, or attend to my daily routine,

I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review, No money was exchanged. This is my honest review in my own words, A. Wonderful and Fun Read!

This is a different kind of Amish novel, The mountain Amish of Ice Mountain are a hundred years behind the other Amish in Pennsylvania and that a long with their unusual Bishop makes Kelly Kong's Ice Mountain books such great reads.
The characters are complex and they grow so much in this novel as Joseph, an Amish man working on an oil rig to watch over his younger brother who is working on the rig to save money so he can get married.
Joseph never plans to marry, Neither of the men end up as they expect and that is the fun part, Serious topics are dealt with in this book as well such as abusive spouses, The first book was so good that I have bought three more! I have a love and hate relationship with this series, There's a lot of thing that set this series apart from the typical Amish romance, some are good, some aren't so good,

Likes:

, I like that we see the Amish portrayed as sexual beings, I realize that they are a very religious people but they do have the same desires the rest of us have, and it is nice to see them portrayed as such.

. I love that these books aren't set in the usual settings, It is also cool that the ice mine is real

, Each book has a real world issue that the Amish people are dealing with, In this book it is domestic violence and sexual abuse,

. I really love the characters and how the characters from the first book still figure prominently into this story, without making things difficult to understand,

Dislikes

, Joseph's father's cancer/heart attack/illness whatever you want to call it, I like miracles where they can be believable, but in this case it was laughable, A stagelung cancer diagnosis usually doesn't happen in the ER either and PET scans don't usually happen that way either,

. The bishop letting all the Englischers into the faith, To the best of my knowledge about this faith, it is not that easy, even if they are a mountain people, The bishop seemed a little too easygoing,

. This story seemed to go on much longer than it should have, I felt it should have wrapped up after the drama with Priscilla's ex or even after the business with her father,

The book was enjoyable but there was way too much that didn't feel quite right for the Amish The many divided reviews made me curious about this book and I decided to pick it up and see for myself.
Im not an avid Amish fiction reader, but I have read enough to know that what Long did in this book is outside the box and too much for many readers of Amish fiction.

Like any human being, the Amish struggle with the same sexual desires as anyone, I found it really refreshing to read the sexual parts in this book, Concerning this, its it a realistic storyline,
Besides the sexual scenes, I found other scenes lacking in development and sometimes a bit unbelievable or wrapped up too fast, There are also scenes in the book that Im not sure about why they were in the story, Perhaps it is something that will be dealt with in the next book in series

All in all, this was an enjoyable and refreshing read, There is sexual content in the story, If you cant deal with that, then dont read the book, Its not just one scene it is something that repeats often during the storyline,
This book takes on sensitive subjects that are not usually a part of Amish fiction and I thought the author presented them in a respectful, thoughtful and compelling manner that made Joseph and Priscillas story especially thought provoking.
Josephs kindness and concern for Priscilla and her daughter Hollie who are on the run from her abusive husband speaks volumes about the Christian faith he practices and life on Ice Mountain is quaint, loving and inspirational.
I especially enjoyed the sensual nature of Joseph and Priscillas relationship which greatly adds to the romantic nature of the story, .
