Get The Iguana Brothers, A Tale Of Two Lizards Conceived By Tony Johnston Readable In Paperback
I was so obsessed with this book, Love it! Redrd The first time I read The first time I read this story, long time ago, I did not like it that well.
This second time it like the story better, I like the way the author intertwine two languages English and Spanish, I like the concept of two Mexican iguanas who wanted to be dinosaurs, Dom and Tom try to be dinosaurs, but as soon as they roared as dinosaurs, they stop because they almost fell off the vine where they were.
They agreed, they did not want to rule the earth, Instead they did something they enjoy doing, Tom and Dom stared at the and found their favorite constellation, “The Big Iguana”,
The dialogue is creative and funny, However, I am not impressed with the illustrations, The artist crated a pallet of mostly Earth tones, the drawings are good, but the colors feel dull, This story should be better in bright colors, Some of the pages are full bleed and some have a white frame, I do not understand what is the reasoning behind that decision, Cute story and teaches some Spanish words, Tom and Dom are a couple of young iguanas who think they're dinosaurs! Dom is happy being Dom, but sensitive Tom is not sure if being just an iguana is right for him.
He decides to make some changes in this wonderful story of discovery, friendship and what it means to be brothers, Fullcolor acrylic illustrations. Well this was an interesting book, I wouldn't have normally picked this up, but my daughter grabbed it off the shelf at the library, so we brought it home.
It was a strange book, It was really hard to keep Dom and Tom separate because their names were so similar, Almost NOTHING happened during the entire book, and it was a pretty long book for a children's book, My daughter was hardly interested in it, The pictures were pretty dull they're iguanas, so I didn't expect vibrant illustrations, but still,
The only thing that I thought gave the book some merit was that it had spanish words strewn throughout.
It also would have the other one answer and basically tell you what the spanish word meant in English, So if you're looking for a book that will provide some spanish words to your kids, this is a good one.
Tom and Dom are iguanas, In this book they have three little adventures, First, Tom decides bugs are gross and must find something else to eat, Second, the two iguanas decide they are dinosaurs, Third, Tom is looking for someone to be his friend,
This book reads much like a Frog amp Toad book, only starring Mexican reptiles, The dialogue is stilted and simple like in a beginning reader book, and the adventures are rather simple too and a bit silly.
Some Spanish vocabulary is introduced along the way, so if you're looking for a beginning reader that's multicultural/somewhat bilingual, this could fit the bill.
The last story is a good one for brothers who need to realize they can be brothers and friends, A nice story of love and commitment between two brothers iguanas, Librarian Note: There is than one author by this name in the Goodreads database, Tony Johnston has written many acclaimed books for young people, She and her husband lived in Mexico for fifteen years, where they raised their children, She now lives in San Marino, California, .
