Download Hades In Love Narrated By Mel Bossa Viewable As Edition
in Love is a small little story with many twists and turns, It also uses Greek Mythology and lore throughout the story which is also another one of my various interests, Anyways on with the ,
Hades in Love follows the story of up and coming perfumer, Harris, nicknamed Hades by friends and coworkers alike, who just can't seem to have a meaningful relationship.
He's burnt out of just having flings and decides that he might be ready for something different, However, when your trying to make it in the perfume biz, such a thing is easier said than done, Holed up in his lab for hours on end and working a day job as an advertising agent, he quickly finds himself in need for a date for his perfume's launch party.
This is when a longtime friend of his suggests hiring an escort, but not just any service mind you, . . an escort from Mount Olympus, A bit uncertain but in desperate need of a date, Harris calls the service and is sent a match right away,
Enter Pallas, a man with blonde hair and enchanting blue eyes that seemed to be chiseled by the god's themselves, Harris is immediately interested and finds himself to be genuinely curious about the mysterious man, often asking questions that Pallas quickly shoots down in his nononsense business demeanor.
It is during the times that they spend getting prepared for the launch party that we start to see Pallas' walls begin to fall around Harris.
This is much to Harris' enjoyment and much to Pallas' confusion and anxiety,
Pallas tries to resist Harris' attempts to seduce him and often leaves the latter spinning, The chemistry between the two was instantaneous and entertaining to watch unfold, To see these two characters who have walls built up so high that China would be envious, develop into learning how to be in a relationship, Of course not all turns out well between them and misunderstanding occur but in the end they learn from their mistakes and come together making their bond that much stronger.
In short, Hades in Love is a fun ride full of twists and turns for both characters, Some really good and some pretty bad, They both have flaws and selfdestructive personalities, They are very strongdetailed characters and are easy to sympathize with, When they are going through a struggle, . . you can feel it and when they are over the moon, . . it's simply sweet and touching, I enjoyed it and I'm sure others with similar tastes will to,
I'd also like to Thank the Publishers and NetGalley for sending me the book to read and review, Very interesting profession for a protagonist, But why a cover with a bottle so similar, or the same as J'Adore A women's perfume! sitelinkHades in Love was a weird book, which pains me to say because I think that sitelinkMel Bossa is a brilliant author.
But this book yeah, weird.
I felt like the story was written very oddly, There was a distance between the reader and the characters that was hard to get past, I felt very removed from the MCs, and I never warmed to them, Maybe it was the almost formal manner of speaking, or the wealthy, privileged vibe of the story, but everything felt very stiff and inaccessible for me, It was a difficult book to get into, and a difficult book to finish,
The plot was also, . . unique. While I think that the idea of using characters from Greek mythology was pretty cool, I kept stopping to look up each person and do research while reading.
I didn't want to miss any nuances implied by their names/mythology, but it really detracted from the story, It pulled me out of the flow, and I felt like there were inside jokes that I was missing,
I also didn't love the rent boy/perfumemaker plot, It was too serious, too heavy and it didn't have the desired emotional impact that I was looking for,
All in all, not even close to Mel Bossa's best work, While not a horrible story, I was happy when it was over,

I struggled through this from the start, mostly because I couldn't connect to the characters and their relationship at all, . . I don't even know if I really liked them as individual characters, to be honest,
There were often dialogueonly passages back and forth, where Harris and Jude were talking but we had no clue what they were doing, The dialogue itself was very formal and also had this whole feeling of being wealthy and overprivileged, and it was also overdramatic, It just didn't flow naturally and seem real, like real conversations wouldn't sound like that,
We were never given any internalization, especially from Jude, so we never knew what he was really thinking, And Jude was so hot and cold about the idea of having more with Harris, it was hard to figure him out, This was definitely a case of being told what was going on, not shown,
I think the idea of the story was interesting and I liked the blend of Greek mythology into the story, but this definitely fell short for me and I couldn't get into the story at all.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, This book was okay.
I didn't love it and I didn't hate it,
It had too much detailing in some aspects like the technicalities of perfumery and in others not so muchlike what happened to Mineau Is he still with the business How about Charon.
The writing also went lent into the what I call "over artistic", I kept saying to myself "there is no way anyone talks like this in real life" or maybe the simple fact is that I need to expand my social circle I don't know.
I expected Harris Hades, as the blurb said, to be strong willed, fiery , assertive and an all round badass, What he was, however was timid, obsessive and a bit childish, He always wanted to get his way and if things didn't go as he wanted, he went off the bend,
As for JudePallas the other MC, I didn't even know what to make of him, One moment he was all suave and in charge, the next he was running away only for him to cave into demands when Harris persisted, He was a mess and not the type that you feel empathy for,
In all honesty, I didn't care for both of the MCs and come to think of it, I didn't care for any of the other characters as well.
The whole book was a bit monotonous, nothing really happens and it got to a point where reading it got tedious, I just wanted it to end.
Fortunately I managed to finish it and I think I deserve a pat on the back for it,

It was an ok book but I found the main characters a little annoying in all their drama, Jude runs cold and hot like a Kathy Perry song and Harris was trapped in a cycle of promising he was going to be ok with what Jude did for a living only to break his promiseseconds later rinse and repeat.
I also was a little annoyed about the self destructive tendencies of both characters, Harris's in particular, since I felt it was a call for attention rather than the result of real issues.
The steam was mediumlow with two not very descriptive sex scenes, It felt very instalovey with toosoon declarations of eternal love,
It has a Happy Ending, So this sounds interesting, right It sounds like an interesting romance with a couple of guys who want nothing to do with said romance,
What it is instead is an uncomfortable comedy of errors where one guy purchases an escort and falls for him, only to start stalking him in ways that arebeyond creepy and definitely arrestable.
It's creepy. And made me incredibly uncomfortable the entire time,
And when Pallas finally gives in and they start to date, Harris says he'll be fine with his profession, and then isn't, loudly so, And when Pallas breaks it off, the stalking starts all over again,
It's not okay. It's really not okay. This is in no way a healthy relationship, and it should be ended, Like, now. ARC provided by the publisher through Netgalley,
Let's talk about the cover first: It's sooo beautiful!
And now to the Book: the description of the book and the cover, The cover! was intriguing and since the last escort book I read, Dark Escort, turned out to be surprisingly good, I was anticipating this read very much.
But, unfortunately, the book didn't deliver,
The protagonists Harris, a, k. a. Hades, and Jude, a. k. a. Pallas, didn't act like grownups, they were more childishlike, I didn't connect with any of them, Jude had so many mood swings and Harris was istantly lovesick, Oh yeah, yet another New Adult book with insta love!
I just couldn't understand their attraction to each other,
This book was too short, It could have covered the issue with Harris' mentor Mineau more or other things, And, of course, make their romance more of a slow burn,
I really liked it when Harris talked about perfumes, though, It was always very poetic and they were the best parts of the book, Or when Greek mythology was mentioned, I've always been a fan of Greek mythology,
This is book is about a man full of ambitions and dreams who has created his own perfume and is ready to launch it in the international market.
As the night of the launch party is getting closer he realizes that he needs a date but does't want to ask any of the people he knows and his best friend is going to be abroad for business.
So, enter the second MC, a highclass escort who won't reveal anything real about himself,
I liked the plot and the mystery created around Pallas, especially with all the scents Harris was picking up but Pallas wouldn't speak about,
One of the two aspects I most enjoyed about the book is the scents, It's written from Harris' point of view and everything was directly linked with smells, It was quite the experience, Instead of describing colours and images we were told about what the character could smell, He could detect many different scents on a person or at a location and he cound separate them and understand what each of them was representing, Harris essentially saw the world through smells, Each scent produced an image in his head or a feeling the same way music does for many people, The description of his perfume's fragrance was like telling a story, For him it wasn't just a smell he liked but a way to express himself,
I don't know anything about the perfume business so I can't comment on that aspect but I liked the description of Erebus and it's different layers , The machine that Harris had in his lab was also interesting to read about, The way it worked and how it separated the different scents was something I never really thought about but enjoyed learning,
The second thing I'm really excited about is the obvious influence of acient greek mythology throught the whole book, This is clear from the MC's names or nicknames in Harris' case and at first I thought that's all there was, but the author did a really great job including lesser known stories, gods and creatures.
So now the two things that I didn't like, The whole love thing and 'merging our lives together' happened really fast so I just tried not to thing about the time frame, Also, after the launch night I kind of lost track of how much time passed between the scenes, It could be the next day or it cound be two weeks later, I couldn't figure it out, Regardless, it was really soon to
The second thing I did't like was Harris' behavior.
He promised Pallas he wouldn't do something and in the next paragraph he did it, And then Pallas closed off and started to leave, Harris chased him, said sorry I won't do it again and Pallas forgave him and stayed, Then the same thing happened again the next time they met, That happened quite a few times and it was a bit frustrating,
I think that Pallas wanted to stay but was affraid to reveal himself because he did't think that what he had with Harris would last.
He was used to hiding his true self and he found it difficult to change that habit, So, he was being pulled in two directions and he didn't know which way to go, He took one step toward Harris and one toward hiding himself, That lasted for a while and even when he started to open up it happened slowly and he always kept something back, For example,
All in all it was a good book, not high on angst, or at least I didn't feel that they wouldn't make it or that their relationship was really threatened.
I felt as if they just had to go through some stuff in order for Pallas to open up to Harris and let him in .
I wanted to give it three point eight but that's not possible so I'm rounding that up to four, My rating is not a solid four because I didn't really feel like I was in the story, I didn't loose track of time while reading it.
I can't really say why that happened because it was a wellwritten book with good edit work, but that's just me and the way I felt, For someone else it might feel different, But even if it doesn't it's worth reading for all the points I stated at the beginning,
I easily recommend it,
