one is a fast but good read, I grew up on a cattle farm so I enjoyed hearing about the cows, I will admit that I didnt know there was much of it in Florida so that was something new to me, The author describes the birth of a calf so well that I really could have been there,
I liked Linney and Cy, Neither have a desire to be married, The interactions between the two are really well written and I honestly just enjoyed the story,

Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book via Celebrate Lit, I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above aremine, Linney Merritt loves her life in the Florida scrub where she assists her Pa in raising and taking cattle to market, The new cowman, Cyrus John, appreciates the chance to start over, Marrying holds no interest for either, but they cant help but be drawn to each other, And then, just before Christmas, they find themselves fighting together to save the life of a calf, all while discovering the One who can remove fears and provide forgiveness.
This is a new Author to me and I know I will be looking for more of her books, I enjoyed reading this one, it was well written and made me want to keep turning pages until the last page had been read.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it, This touching story warms the heart, Its set at Christmas, but the short, compelling novel can be enjoyed any time of year, The tale features Linney Merritt, a ranchers daughter, and Cyrus John, their new hired cowman who will help drive the cattle to market.
Linney works right with the men, but plans to never marry, The two seem drawn to each other, Could this new ranch hand cause her to reconsider The book naturally develops a warmhearted story where the main character must face her fears and overcome themwhich can speak to readers about their own lives.
I also like the sweet parallel with the actual Christmas story, The characters seem quite realistic and the story comes across as authentic, Set in Florida in the nineteenth century, readers learn a bit of history and what life was like in the scrub there at that time.
I received a copy from Celebrate Lit, All opinions are my own, This lovely tale of historical Florida scrub is a wonderful holiday read, I didnt know anything about cattle ranching in Florida and enjoyed learning about what it was like to settle and live in Florida during the days of whipcracking cattle drovers called “Crackers.
”
The ranchers daughter, Linney, lived her life in fear of losing loved ones, especially when the loss leaves a gap for those left to mourn, as in the case of her own mother.
Although shes a good assistant to the herd of Florida cattle, she vows to never get attached to something or someone who might disappear from her life.
Pas new cattleman, Cy, comes with emotional baggage, Still healing from his own devastating losses, he is leery and wary around the attractive bosss daughter, When he learns what she needs most is faith and forgiveness from the One who never lets us down, they forge a relationship that might turn into something more.
"Run With the Wind" by Judy DuCharme is a fast read, I love the ending! This is a story of two people feeling guilty for things that weren't their fault, If a reader likes clean cowboy stories and likes descriptions of the work involved in rounding up cattle and birthing calves, then I say look no farther, here is a perfect book for you.
Oh, I forgot to tell you the story takes place at Christmas time,
I received a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own,
Run With the Wind was recently named Best Book in Inspirational Romance in the NABE Pinnacle Achievement Awards for Winter, Enjoy. I enjoyed this entertaining holiday novella, I liked being introduced to a totally new area of cattle ranching, the Florida scrub, That was a nice change from the usual cowboy stories in the west, We get a good sense of what it meant to drive the cattle to market with storms and wolves and birthing calves on the way.
One thing they did not face was snow so the book cover is a misrepresentation,
There were several issues explored in the novella, One concerned the struggle anticipating marriage and children when your own mother died in childbirth, Another was letting past events prevent present happiness, There was a good dose of cowboy counseling included along with the healing power of trusting God for the future,
The characters were delightful, including the insightful cow hands, There is plenty of cowboy action and a touching romance, I recommend this entertaining and informative novella,
I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Celebrate Lit, My comments are an independent and honest review, I found this book from last year, I thought it sounded good so I gave it a chance, I am glad I did as I have found Judy! I found it was set in the Civil War era and near where I live now.
KissimmeeSt Cloud was a major cattle business, The Boss, Linney's dad, is getting to drive their cattle to send to Cuba, back when they could! Linney is cook and washer.
All goes good until there is a big storm and Linney was bounced off the wagon and her arm was damaged, Cy, their new hand can do everything and used a poultice, There is an attack of wolves and they made it safely! Linney is afraid of having children as her mother died after she was born.
Cy is falling for Linney but he has guilt because he went to a meeting and his wife died in their house fire.
They help to birth a cow, Linney realized past is past, as does Cy, Please give this story a chance, It is onlychapters! You won't regret it! I volunteered to read and review this book,
A young woman finds herself drawn to the new cowboy her father has hired, They live on the untamed Florida scrub in a time when cattle grazing might soon be replaced by orange groves, Though they both claim to have no interest in each other something might change their minds I hadn't heard of the Florida scrubs and the unique tale of cattle on the peninsula.
Well written and enjoyable.
Linney lives at home and helps her dad with the farm, With her mom gone and a new hand on the ranch Linney starts to wonder if the chooses she has set in her head are the right was when her heart questions everything.
Cy is heading towards home when his cousin gives him a heads up about a job, When Cy keeps a secret close to his heart it seems he is forced to come face to face with his fears.
Will they both be able to over come their fears
I have never read anything by this author so I wasn't sure what to expect.
This book was short but packed an amazing story, Its placed during probablyor earlys but there wasn't that historical feel to it, which was nice, I loved all the active characters in this book, I loved the names and the back and forth and I loved how Linney was an independent women but also was not afraid to seek help when needed.
I loved her love for animals and how the characters enjoyed talking to them which allowed the personalities to shine out and make for a fun element in the story.
I loved how this was a super clean read and I think the only downside or upside depends how you look at it was in the end I wanted more from these characters I wanted to know more and see more played out, but it ended perfectly.
Run With the Wind is a holiday novella that is written by Judy DuCharme, It was fun reading this in the midst of thedegrees and humidity in SE Alabama, I loved that this focused on ranching in Florida, Usually we see everything set on the West, So it was a nice change of pace,
Linney was good character, She enjoyed working the cattle, She doesnt mind getting dirty, She helps her Pa when they take the cattle to the market, The other cowhands respect her and she is well liked, Cyrus John is thankful to start fresh, Hes well mannered and wants to do a good job, However, hes drawn to Linney, Both are content with their lives and are not considering any changes, But the two of them are drawn to each other,
The characters are well written, The story line intriguing. I enjoyed learning about the cattle driving process, I also loved how since this is set around Christmas that the author wove on the story of Jesus and his birth.
I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit Blogging Program, all thoughts are my own.
I really enjoy Christian Fiction books, especially those that are centered around Christmas time, Run with the Wind by Judy DuCharme is the most recent book that I have read,
The book takes place in Florida and Linney Merritt lives on the Family Cattle Farm with her Dad, She enjoys her life as it is and has no interest in ever getting married or having children, Her Dad hires a new Cowboy, Cyrus John, to help with the Farm, CyrusCy is very work focused and has no desire to marry ever, They both begin to have feelings for one another as they begin to work together often, One night, close to Christmas, as they are trying to help save a newborn calf, they both realize how strong the feelings really are.
Will there be a chance at romance for Linney and Cy Will they realize that God's plans are bigger than our plans
I really
enjoyed the story of Linney and Cy.
The book is short and a fast read, The author does a wonderful job of packing a GREAT story into a small book, Linney and Cy are both comfortable with their life and enjoy Farm Life, but they soon realize they are missing out on other things that can make life grand.
I LOVE how they both overcame their fears about marriage and love and formed a relationship, The book is one of relying on God, trusting his plan, and enjoying life and love! GREAT BOOK! Linney and Cyrus find a future in this well written romance about cattle raising in Florida and the hardships of everyday life made sweeter by finding your heart's mate.
Settle in to read about the history of the sunshine state not often told,
Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks, Opinions are entirely my own, Raising cattle on a farm in the Florida scrub isn't easy, but it makes for an interesting setting, Cy is a new hire on the farm where Linney helps her father in birthing calves and feeding the other men, Fear and regret keep Linney and Cy apart, Linney's mother died when she was born, Linney doesn't want to marry for she believes she would die as her mother did, Cy lost his wife in a fire and regrets not being there when she needed him, These two characters do their best to bottle up their feelings for each other despite their close proximity, This gentle, sweet romance is just the thing for a winter's evening, What fun! We raise cows here on a small scale, I have five dairy cows and four heifers, Ive definitely watched cows give birth, It didnt sour me on having children though, I mean, Im a mom ofso you could say that I definitely know how they feel,
Birth is amazing!
I enjoyed this fun historical fiction novel that gives you a good Christian romance, Both main characters have a few hangups that they have to overcome, It was such a nice light read, I enjoyed it between two intense suspense novels and it was just what I needed to fill my soul with peace,
Need a good read for a rainy day Make sure to grab this one, It does not disappoint.
