The worldbuilding is excellent, the characters interesting, and the story is thrilling, I don't know why I haven't read this series already, but I'm glad I'm finally enjoying it, By virtue of there being evil, greedy characters, I expect a body count, Rising had less dead characters than I expected, and some unexpected plot twists, I'm looking forward to the new scouts' further adventures, Space is vast, deep, and merciless, So how do you solve the mystery of a missing father whos been lost in interstellar space for almost twenty years and everyone says hes dead.


Only, you don't believe it's true, The question is what do you do about it

You go through hell and join the vaunted Star Scout Corps, thats what.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book, The author did take a long time to set the stage for the story but, once things got going I was fully invested in what happened to the characters.
