Obtain Way Too Many Latkes: A Hanukkah In Chelm Author Linda Glaser Displayed In Mobi

cute Hanukkah story. My daughter liked the repetition, This seems to be an original Chelm story, rather than one that has been passed down as a true folktale, but it follows the established pattern of Chelmish foolishness, uses traditional folktale elements, including repetition, and is appropriately laughinducing.
When Faigel forgets her own latke recipe, she sends her husband Shmuel on three separate trips, of course to ask the rabbi's advice about how many of each ingredient to use to make the latkes.
His advice in each case is to use as many as she has, which results in more latkes than even Faigel, Shmuel and the rabbi together can eat, and so of course the whole village is invited to enjoy the latkes with them.
Never mind that the proportions suggested do not fit most traditional latke recipes this is Chelm, after all! Aleksandar Zolotic's expressive illustrations, mostly in brownish tones, are reminiscent of Disney animation, featuring largeeyed characters and chock full of interesting details.

My personal favorite Chanukah latke picture book stories are Naomi Howland's "Latkes, Latkes, Good to Eat", David A, Adler's "Malka's Secret Recipe" also a Chelm story, Eric A, Kimmel's "The Golem's Latkes", and Linda Glaser's own Mrs, Greenberg books "The Borrowed Hanukkah Latkes" and "Mrs, Greenberg's Messy Hanukkah", all of which include latke recipes, This book does not quite rank with those for me, but it makes a fun addition to the evergrowing canon of Hanukkah picture books about latkes and helps to fill the

demand for more Chelm stories.
No latke recipe other than the rabbi's advice is included, Seriously, give me a break, Reading picture books in preparation for Hanukkah my first since I started talking to a rabbi about converting! I definitely enjoyed this one! The illustrations were a ton of fun, very modern animation.
The humour here is on point, and I definitely got some good and genuine laughs here, It's an original Chelm story rather than one based on existing stories, but it definitely fits with what I know of Chelm stories, It also completely has me ready to consume latkes,

Recommended for anyone looking for a fun Hanukkah read! Cute Hanukkah story A woman who lives in the village of Chelm the fictional Jewish village of Fools makes latkes every year for Hanukkah.
They always taste amazing, and anyone who gets one thinks about it for the whole year until it is time for another, She only makes a small amount of latkes though, so everyone only gets on tiny latke a piece, But this year, she realizes that she has forgotten her recipe! She can't remember how much of each ingredient to use, so her husband is quick to run off to the Rabbi to ask his advice.
The Rabbi, being led by his hungry stomach, answers that they should use everything! With amusing dialog that is laughoutloud funny in its ridiculousness, the story of Too Many Latkes, is sure to make everyone laugh at least a little.
In the end, there are so many latkes, that the only option available is to find more mouths, and everyone is invited to eat with the family, so long as they bring one mouth a piece.
Truly amusing and great to read before making latkes with the littles, One of the most hilarious Chelm stories ever and it's truethere are never too many latkes! Cute story about the rabbi giving directions on how to make latkes and as a result too many were made.
This was fun, and it made me hungry, A winwin Don't ask the rabbi for cooking advice, A very cute Hanukkah story set in the fictional town of Chelm, the town of fools, A woman cannot remember her own recipe for latkes so her husband helps her, . . by asking the very hungry rabbi what they should do, In the end, they wind up making enough latkes to feed the entire village,

I liked this book a lot, I adored all the traditional, Yiddishsounding character names, The art was especially gorgeous, Kinda makes me yearn for an animated short based on this, in a similar style to Neflix's Klaus, The visuals for both have a lot in common,

Overall, it's a very fun little story, to be enjoyed by Jewish kids and grownups alike, Cute story, lovely illustrations. Just wish it had included a latke recipe, It's one of those stories with repetitive verses and a funny ending, It's a great book to introduce children to Jewish traditions, Very fun read. Well crafted. The repeating jokes really tickled my kids funny bones, said no one ever.

Wonderful and vibrant Disneyesque illustrations tell a funny "Strega Nona"type story but with the famous potato pancakes, I do wish Hubby would have helped out with the cooking though,

Vegan parents note: the latkes in this story use a huge barrel of eggs, However, there are lots of eggfree latke recipes online, and kids will definitely want to make latkes after reading this book, Faigel makes the best Hanukkah latkes in Chelm, but somehow, this year she's forgotten how to make them! She sends her husband, Shmuel, to ask the rabbi for help.
And in Chelm, the village of foolsoy vey!this becomes a recipe for disaster!,
