The covers are interesting and present an interesting series.
Initially, when looking at them, they dont appear to be a thriller series of a future dystopian American society thats about to undergo a coup at the highest level.
But thats exactly what this series is,better not be this disruptive!
The story is well done, I dont know how real to life it all is for revolutionists, not ever having been involved in a revolution, But they have their organization and their slipups, People get hurt and even killed, This is a serious revolution, Each of our two young heroes, Careen and Tommy, get seriously hurt, shot, and even tortured, There are times when you dont know who is on which side or which side is good or bad, which I imagine may be authentic to a situation such as this.
So many people appeared to know what they were talking about and appeared to be speaking the truth, whether they were or not, People who were in positions of authority and power in the country and law enforcement, But as Hemingway said, power corrupts, It seems to corrupt the weak who cant stand on their own and have to have something like a title to hold up to show how great they are.
The characters were really well done, Some of them we got to know quite well because we were with them all the way through the book and got to know their quirks and even how they like their coffee.
Others just sort of passed through here and there as very minor characters, like Nicole, Poor, scared, Nicole.
The pace was mostly relentless as all five books seemed to barrel towards some horrendous cataclysmic ending, The tension of never quite knowing who was on which side and what would pop out around the next corner kept the tension stretched tight throughout, No rest. No time to catch your breath, Just like the characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series and would strongly recommend it for Young Adult readers of this genre, Political Dystopian Thriller YA with just a touch of young romance thrown in.
Recommended.
I voluntarily reviewed this book, I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book, these are my honest ramblings and I hope you enjoy reading them kat
This is the conclusion to the story of Careen, Tommy and the rest of the resistance who are fighting the OCSD
They are trying to stop the Cerberean Link, The tracker that Atari the Tech head designed, he is working for both the Resistance team AND the OCSD! OR does he have his own agenda You will have to read the book to find out.
The storyline as it went was a slow burn but I was still glued to my kindle right to the very end,
As a conclusion, I think Ms Lawson did a good job of wrapping up the storyline, BUT with scope for maybe some further stories Once you were linked it was permanent, so who knows what could happen!
What I found the most compelling about this series is that it's not so unbelievable and to be honest America seems to be on the precipice of a big shift with the current administration, it starts small.
. . taking away your rights one at a time, and before the country knows, its media is controlled and so are your liberties, sound familiar scarily so in my opinion
But let's not get into how I feel Trump is beginning to sound scarily like Madalyn Davies!!!!
Ms Lawson's writing style is really enjoyable, it flows well, is fresh and interesting but at the same time modern and fits with the Dystopian genre.
This series will suit any reader that enjoys YA dystopian novels,Cranky Stars
The final book starts off where book three left off, I really enjoy the fact that she has continuity in her books, I could not find any plot holes which is amazing,
This whole series kinda scared me, You never know what can happen in the world, The action, tension, and drama was spot on, There werent any lagging parts, Tracy Lawsons story kept me glued to the story, I really enjoyed reading this series, It gave me a chance to escape to another world, I really look forward to reading more of Lawsons future works, I will recommend this story to others So many unexpected turns!
Each seeming to lead to a logical conclusion, With so much action happening it was easy to assume what would happen, Totally surprised but happy with the finale, Thank you to the author for giving me an audiobook copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review, All opinions are my own and have not been solicited,
What I love about this series is that it is so easy to catch up on events and the plot, The author always creates segues that remind the reader of what happened in the previous books, which really helps make connections stick, It's not something one sees all the time in a series, but it is definitely appreciated!
I didn't love this book as much as I did the other books in the series.
Mind you, this was still a very good novel, However, it didn't have as much action as I had hoped and the story was a tad bit predictable,
With that being said, I still really loved the plot, The author gives a really wellrounded picture of the entire scenario, We see how the citizens feel, we see how the politicians think, and we even get to see the divisions within the Resistance itself, It made the story so much more realistic I could easily envision a situation like this one happening in our world right now and I would feel just as conflicted as some of the characters and people mentioned in the book.
That has always been the highlight for me in this series and the author continues to make the story as real as possible in this book,
I also really like the way the characters were developed, It was so easy to connect with them and to understand them, If a character wasn't as developed in one book, you can be sure that it will happen in one of the other stories, By the end of the series, I felt like I had a good handle on everyone,
Overall, I really liked this entire series, I loved the audiobook experience, and the narrator did a fantastic job! I liked the realistic nature of this dystopian novel and the way the author portrayed realistic interactions between different characters.
The plot made sense, and the story ended nicely enough, if a bit predictable, All in all, it gets a solid/from me! After four books and one prequel novella, I was hoping that the Resistance series would end the way it should: with the storylines being wrapped up, one or two more twists, and our teenage heroes being given the closure they've sought since the beginning.
I was not disappointed.
This series has been a great ride, Tommy and Careen feel like old friends at this point, and I know I will miss them as I
move on to other reading projects, Like so many great YA characters who survive their ordeals, I say: let their scars heal, their lives return to some semblance of normal, and make beautiful fictitonal babies together.
Perhaps in a Resistance: Next Gen series, wink wink,
Well done, Ms, Lawson. Well done. .
