Mackenzie and Nolan know that in a few short months everything will change as they head off to different colleges.
Determined to make the most of the time they still have left, they come up with a list of things they want to do together before graduation.
But as they make their way through it, Mackenzie cant help feeling that shes left the most important thing off the list: telling Nolan how she feels.
But when confessing her love could jeopardize the incredible relationship they already have, is honesty really the best policy
This is a sweet story about love and friendship.
It's not the best contemporary in the world not even close honestly but I enjoyed it, I think it would've been better if there had been more action, Not much happens except Mackenzie and Nolan hanging out while trying to navigate their feelings, which was entertaining but, at the same time, it makes the book forgettable.
I would recommend it if you're looking for a quick, cute read, This is exactly that! I found this book by accident while looking for cute YA books, and I really did enjoy this one! Id say its a.
but alas, they dont give that option,
This book reminded me so much of my relationship! I am a sucker for friends to maybe lovers stories!
The characters were super likeable and fun! They seemed realistic to me and I fell in love with them both!
I enjoyed learning more about typediabetes and what its like to live with the disease.
Some of the dialogue and prose was really stilted where I didnt find it believable but most of it was amazing!
I recommend this book if youre looking for something light and fun! this has been on my list for SO LONG so it's a relief to know that it was actually a good book
some awkward dialogue but i genuinely was invested in the romance Honestly, other than the two of them not confessing their undying love for each other, there was not other conflict.
So overrated. As a typediabetic, I dont see representation of myself in media very often or very accurately, I picked up this book because the main character is diabetic too and the parts of the book that talked about it were accurate and well done.
I think this is an important book solely for that reason, However, I wasnt crazy about the writing or the story itself even, The writing was very simplistic and basic and there was a lot more telling than showing, I think the book could have been fleshed out a lot more just by expanding short paragraphs that brushed over things into whole chapters, The characters were also verydimensional and there wasnt really a difference between any of Mackenzie or Nolans friends and family members, None of the characters felt like they had any real traits or personalities and the main characters barely had anything romantic between them besides pining for each other.
It wasnt super clear to me WHY they even liked each other as more than friends, I was just told that they did, This book is definitely something I wouldve enjoyed more had I read it when I was younger and I think that its an important book for young diabetics, even if its just to feel understood for a few pages.
This was going so well, but I think the scene when he spoke about the kiss should've been the catalyst for the confessions to come out.
Nolan was admiting in front of his 'girlfriend' that the kiss with Zie was the most memorable for him, After that admission, why is Zie still thinking that it mean nothing to him I'm aware that both of them has always put their friendship first, sacrificing their owns feelings for each other in the process, but for him to say that! it's just makes the scene very underwhelming, because the only thing that changes is that Nolan and Erin are over and Zie and Jude are over, but then Zie and Nolan continue on with their friendship relationship as if Nolan hasn't just basically destroyed his relationship with Erin for Zie as Jude so well put it.
It's just makes you wonder at the end, while reading the final chapter: Why now Was it really necessary to travel to Arizona to make them admit their feelings No, not really.
So anyway, this book was so good, I loved Zie and Nolan and their relationship, as I loved that there were never jealousy between Erin and Zie, The weren't that many scenes between the girls, but I get what that must be seeing as the main friendship relationship was between Nolan and Zei.
I am always ready for characters with typediabetes, I need this book yesterday It was such a sweet book, They thought so much for each other, They could've avoid that tho, Mackenzie Clark has been best friends with Nolan Walker for as long as she can remember, Shes shared everything with him, from adventures with their families and days lounging at the beach, to long talks about their friends and her journey with typediabetes.
The only thing she hasnt shared is the fact that she is in love with him,
Now in their senior year of high school, Mackenzie and Nolan know that in a few short months everything will change as they head off to different colleges.
Determined to make the most of the time they still have left, they come up with a list of things they want to do together before graduation.
But as they make their way through everything from toilet papering the school bullys house to having a backyard campout like the ones they had when they were kids, Mackenzie cant help feeling that shes left the most important thing off the list: telling Nolan how she feels.
But when confessing her love could jeopardize the incredible relationship they already have, is honesty really the best policy the way I'm in complete disbelief that this book is over.
by the time I got to the end and flipped the last page, I was just shocked that there wasn't more This book was sooo freaking good.
. better than that. I loved seeing Nolan and Zie's friendship/relationship, It was so heartwarming, to say the least, definitely a memorable story. I definitely WILL be thinking about this for some time, . and more. Cute but forgettable "in love with my best friend" story, I know I read it, but a couple of months later, I'm having trouble remembering the details which is rare, so I had to downgrade a star for that.
"I'd have to let him go so I could watch him be happy with someone else without hurting inside, "
Let Me List the Ways by Sarah White is in true fashion a friends to lovers book, It is a contemporary where the main character is also dealing with diabetes, Her best friend Nolan has always been there since she could remember, Since that day inth grade when she found out that she had diabetes, It has been perfect for them and neither wants anything to change,
Let Me List the Ways is predictable but sometimes with that it's like enjoying something you know has a good ending, I like predictable sometimes because its just easy to pick up,
"You know you're with the right person when you want them to be happy even if what it takes to make them happy makes you unhappy.
"
I think this book is really important in educating people who do not have diabetes, It lets us step into the shoes of Zie the main character who has been living with it since fourth grade, The YA romance was really just a bonus, I cried and I am not ashamed about itbecause Im a sucker for these friendship turned into love kinda stories, DNF at about Chapter. I think my problem with this book was twofold:I just finished reading another book with a similar plotline, Girl likes guy who doesn't know she likes him, and they've been best friends forever, . . AndWhile this may have been a key element in the story later on, there was too much focus on her diabetes that took away from the flow of the story.
I may try to come back to this one but am putting it aside for now, It was alright,it was kinda boring and predictable, I was hoping for more, As a TD myself, I was pleased to follow the REALISTIC story of a young woman with the same medical condition, While this is definitely a romance think friends to lovers, but on a teen scale I have to admit that the Tmoments were the most engaging for me.
Sarah did such a lovely job of weaving Mackenzie's everyday medical concerns with her everyday life, It was refreshing. This was almost laughable, but not in a good way, These main characters who are "supposedly" best friends and nothing more have to be the most oblivious, doltish characters ever written, It's so clear to the reader and all of the other characters that they are headoverheels in love with each other and they spendof the book playing this backandforth game of "I should tell him.
. . but I can't. We're just friends. " Their friendship is also a bit peculiar they hold hands, mount each other and call it "tickling" and Zie literally dresses Nolan when he has an injured shoulder.
Can anyone say "sexual tension"
Zie also has TypeDiabetes, Others have mentioned the representation is spot on, which is great, but Nolan is always there to offer a piece of candy or piggyback ride and catches her when she falls.
It was almost to the point where she wouldn't have survived without him and he always got to be the hero swooping in to save the day.
After all this building and building and backandforth of will they or won't they, the ending is over and neatly tied up within a matter of pages.
I couldn't tear myself away from this, so there's that, but then I was left feeling cheated and disappointed,
I'm torn over this because I know teens out there secretly harboring crushes on their friends will eat this up, but I can't get over how awkward some of it was.
If you can forgive the characters for being mildly inappropriate, this is a quick, easy read that's mostly entertaining good and bad, I lasted likepages, the writing is awful and nobody sounds like a real human, One day I'll find a good book with a Tdiabetic MC, ONE DAY. /reread Still gives me feels a second time around lt
I received an eArc of this book from the Publishers through Netgalley in exchange of an honest review
This story was adorable and quick.
I wasnt expecting the feels or how light this story was Mackenzie as our main character was so likable, The way she dealt with her TD, her relationship with her family and Nolans family I liked her so much,
Same with Nolan, he was really sweet and the way they were together gave me a lot of feelings, The ending did leave on a open note in the sense of we dont know whatll happen after college and I did feel said ending was a bit abrupt.
Yet, this whole story was just so easy and undramatic and breezy,
/I fell in love with this one QUICK,stars
I loved the relationship between the main characters here, This book was adorable. Their friendship was so beautiful and strong, The trust, the reliance on each other it was beautiful to watch, What ruined this book was the ending, Even though it was the outcome I wanted it was way too short, The story builds and builds and builds and then the climax happens and it's just over, There's no basking in happiness, there's no epilogue, there's no life after this event, it's just done, So I was disappointed in that, It felt too abrupt.
I didn't know much about typediabetes before this book but it has me curious, This book delves into all aspects of dealing with a disease like this, Sometimes it felt a little much, But it could be that this is exactly what it is like when dealing with type, I don't know. It just seemed like this must be a severe case because she tested her blood every time she put anything in her mouth and still with all the testing she had episodes of crashing or whatever.
I just wondered if this was a typical case or not, It's unique and feels important to have a book with a main character struggling in this way,
Overall I did enjoy reading this, I was just disappointed that the ending didn't live up to the rest of the book for me.
Way better than I expected, the story line seemed cliche but it ended up being really good, This was SO CUTE
Nolan and Mackenzie are the BEST of friends, They dont keep any secrets from each other except one Mackenzie is in love with Nolan,
This is just the sweetest story of friendship dealing with health issues and love! I fully suggest if you need something to make you smile hit this up! Perfect for fans of Kasie West.
LET ME LIST THE WAYS follows Mackenzie usually called Zie through her senior year of high school, The book showcases her relationship with her neighbor and best friend Nolan, They have been friends for as long as either of them can remember, They wake each other up in the morning and always makes sure the other is doing well, They tell each other everything but Zie has the biggest crush
on Nolan and promises herself to never tell him to keep it from ruining their perfect friendship.
During their senior year, Zie and Nolan face new challenges but their friendship never falters, As graduation grows nearer, the two decide to recreate some of their favorite childhood memories and create some new ones to keep things fresh, They will be attending different colleges so they are determined to spend as much time together as possible, Their friendship is the most important thing to both of them, They have always been there for each other so being apart will be an entirely new battle, Despite being excited about new opportunities and adventures and despite joking about how they wont miss each other it is very obvious that the pair will miss each other dearly and are scared about how their friendship will be effected.
I really enjoyed reading LET ME LIST THE WAYS, I didnt want to put the book down, This book made me laugh, smile and cry, At times it made me angry too it seemed like Nolan and Zie were finally going to get together but then they would both act as if nothing happened.
The only thing I wish was more prominent would be the lists that Zie and Nolan create together, The title indicates a lot of lists are made, but they do not become entirely relevant until youre about half way through the book, However, I still think an incredible story is told and I would not change anything else, I adored this book and even though Im not sure how this would work, I would like to hear about happens to Zie and Nolan down the road how college is and how their friendship is.
I think anyone leaving for college should read this book, I connected with this book on a more personal level than I usually do, because I am heading off to college soon and Im having to say goodbye to some dear friends of mine.
I think this book makes the transition seem easier even though the story ends in the middle of Nolan and Zies senior year spring break.
I would recommend this book to anyone in high school as well, It will help you to see that high school is not as bad as it may seem I know I wanted to get out of there as quick as possible and to enjoy every moment life gives you.
High school will go by quickly, so enjoy it and your friends while you can,
