Avail Yourself Oath Forger 1 (Oath Forger, #1) Envisioned By Nia Mars Delivered In Digital Edition

a little happy dance

Okay, that may not have been the best book ever, but it was incredibly fun.
Light and full of humor and I couldn't stop smiling as I read it, Well, not just smiling, but literally giggling, And laughing out loud. A couple times there were even tears involved, Shhh no making fun now!

Not to mention that it was a refreshing change to read an RH set in space dystopia aliens, who knew I'd get a kick out of that!.

Nia Mars has a clean, spare style of prose that works perfectly with the snarky, snide, sarcastic heroine's voice and constant internal monologue.

All in all a very satisfying read enough that I am willing to purchase the next book not available on KU despite the short length of each book.
It was just FUN! and I want more :

Plus, . . hot, multicolored alpha aliens Count me in!

Edit: In all honesty, I should probably take a star off for that cover.
It is dire. The CGI redhead on the cover is so creepy to look at that I almost didn't even give the series a chance.
But I am letting the book keep the star because I am in such a good mood after the read, I don't want to spoil it!

UPDATE NOTES:
.
LMFAO

"He smiles back, heat creeping into his gaze, Not the we'vejustmetandI'dliketogettoknowyoubetter kind of heat, But the Iwanttolickyoufromyourtoestoyoureyebrows kind of heat, Waaaay more heat than I'm comfortable with, "

.Okay, I can barely even critique or think about the plot or what is going on because I am laughing so hard.
Ava is absolutely hilarious! Case in point:
"Are you unwell, my Ava"
My eyes snap from his hard chest to his penetrating indigo gaze.

"I'm fine. "
"You are not sleeping, "
"A lot has happened today, "
"I could comfort you, "
I'm pretty sure he means with his penis, because, yes, the sheet is definitely tenting, "
LMFAO again

,So far, this is fun and different, Lighthearted and laughoutloud funny in places, The heroine's snarky thoughts are a hoot, I like the voice the author has given her,

Space pirates!! I enjoyed the brashness and bravery of the FMC Ava, but I found the plot and character development to be rather shallow, and the trope of uniting warring warlords to be a bit cliche for my taste.
Ava spent the entire book getting taken to place to place with barely anything explained to her even by the end of the book, and watching her try to avoid a giant warlord lusting after her for most of the book was weird, especially with her virginal status.

I started skimming heavily once the first warlord started seriously hitting on her and trying to get her to sleep with him for no apparent reason, and I still didn't get any satisfactory answers about why an Oath Forger was so special after finishing the book other than as a broodmare for future children that would be friends and end the civil space war.

I don't plan on reading any other books in the series based on this one, but at least this book was a pretty short read.
sitelinkA's review about the final book also helped to show that I wasn't missing much either, Fun little story I really enjoyed this and Im looking forward to getting to know all of the characters better, Great plot too. Hoping things heat up in the next book, I had almost zero exposure to the reverseharem thing before this, having only
Avail Yourself Oath Forger 1 (Oath Forger, #1) Envisioned By Nia Mars Delivered In Digital Edition
read one book that sort of qualified Golden operated on the same idea, but was told from the perspective of one of the boys rather than the woman who had, um, collected them.
Oath Forger was different in another way, too, It was aserial I dont know what else to call it, as each of the five books is called Oath Forger, Whatever it is, Bookwas really good! Good enough that I immediately bought Bookand had to force myself to write this review before starting to read it.

I liked Ava Smith shes tough, smart, fierce, and anything but a pushover, She grew up on an Earth that was devastated by all the usual apocalyptic tropes: nuclear war, overgathering of resources, and general human greed.
Aliens got involved, but only after humanity had basically destroyed itself, She didnt exhibit a ton of character growth, as it seemed like she sprung into the story fullyformed, Ive finally decided, after reading several novellas lately, that I dont mind that so much for shorter pieces like Oath Forger, Watching her adapt to the circumstances following her abduction was interesting, and as an adult who also tends to push buttons even when I dont know what they do, I could totally relate to her curiosity.
She handled the toohottobereal kreks rather well, considering theyre her first real experience of nonhostile aliens, Im looking forward to seeing how that curiosity and resilience translates into her dealings with the five maybe only four presidents/kings/warlords in the following books.

As for the kreks themselves, we dont get much beyond names and physical descriptionsexcept for Koah, with whom Ava spent most of Book.
He didnt seem to have much of a personality, though, beyond “HULK SMASH!” and I hope that changes in the following books.
Tiam, the second krek were introduced to, was just as disconcertingly devoted to Ava from the jump, but I suspect there is a much deeper intellect there.
I cant even remember the names of the other three right now, and thats mostly because they were introduced at the very end.

There really wasnt any romance in this first book, despite the fervent attempts made by the kreks, Ava has some conditions shed like met before she “accepts” any of themand thats all we get, Cliffhangers of this kind are the bestworst kind, However, Ms. Mars promises that each book will get progressively steamier, so theres that,

Unlike so much of what Ive been reading since the explosion of selfpublished authors, Ms, Mars was just as attentive to the editing as she was to the story itself, Im not sure if she hired an editor or did it herself, but either way, I didnt note any major typos, punctuation issues, or formatting problems.
A clean manuscript is always a pleasant bonus to a great story, and I hope that trend continues in her other books!

Bottom line: The first Oath Forger book was great, and I cant wait to read the rest.
I would highly recommend it for anyone who likes the reverseharem thing, scifi romance, and a spunky heroine,

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review,

first appears on sitelinkRed Hot Books On the cover you can see the beautiful redhead Ava, At the beginning of the tome she is with her sister Lily but is forced to separate because the Pirates chase them and Ava is going to be kidnapped.
Ell has no idea why they want her, but she will play the game hoping that they will not discover her ploy.

I discovered this book and this author by the site Netgalley, I loved the feather of it eager to read more.
Short quick read, which makes you interested to continue reading the other books Good

I really liked this book.
Ava is strong and smart and really cool, and Im so excited to read the next book, stars. I'm a scavenger. So what With society's collapse on Earth, I do what I have to for survival, Especially after I'm kidnapped by space pirates, I have no idea why the five most powerful rulers in the universe decide that I'm the Oath Forger, the one foretold to fuse their royal houses together and bring peace.
But I'm going to play along, Because, hey, it's better than probes in uncomfortable places, Now let's just hope they don't find out I'm lying,

Excerpt:
My attention is glued to the man who sits straight ahead, on a platform of his own, above all others.

He's larger than the largest man I had ever seen on Earth, His shoulders are twice as wide as mine, He is wearing a bodyhugging suit, a dark blue space material that absorbs light, His muscle definition is

Clearly visible, even from as far away as where I'm standing,

Hair the color of indigo spills down to the middle of his back, the kind of hair they used to call a lion's mane on Earth.
Straight nose, a jaw that looks like it had been cut from granite, But it's the eyes that render me unable to breathe, His eye color matches his hair, and his gaze is locked on mine, Andhere is the weird partI can feel him in the room, I could almost swear I can hear his heartbeat, My awareness of him is, . . unearthly.

Oh God, I'm cracking, The stress of the abduction has done me in, Next, I will be crying in a heap on the floor like Dee,

Krek Koah stands, a fierce expression on his face,

The buzz in the room immediately dies, Every single person falls silent, All attention is on him,

Without moving his gaze from mine, he says, "I need this room cleared, "

Here is where I'm seriously glad for the translator in my neckeven with the killer headache I feel comingbecause if I didn't understand what he said, I would think it was 'Off with their heads.
'

And I'm pretty sure I would pee my pants,

People file for the exits, no questions, no protest,

I'm ready to go, I'm backing away already.

"Not you," Krek Koah pronounces, looking straight at me,

Pet peeve: Cliffhanger FREE on Amazon today! I'm not gonna lie, I think this book was nice, Not a great work of fiction and scifi but it was decent world building and hit my itch of a nice read with good romantic interests with a decent main character who I immediately liked.
She was scrappy and funny and I think my favorite part was when she had no clue why this random guy was calling her an oath forger she just says, fuck it let's roll with it.
Because in reality if someone has a way out of a kidnapping and a possible way back home who wouldn't lie
Anyway the story was nice but I wouldn't call it a novel, more like a novella.
Her last three "novels" could have been one book in itself, Also it's not even as long as the pages say,of each book is just excerpts for other novels, It was so frustrating and it irks me I can't like a good story plot and read it without worrying about a stupid marketing scheme set to strip one book into three for a couple extra dollars.
It's stupid and I don't want to review a book based off how terrible the marketing and layout was, but on the story!
Please Nia Mars, I like your stories and your way of writing.
I would have no problem putting this down ason plot because buying the book I knew what I was looking for and you ticked off every box I had! But I have never had a book read a book that short as part of a series installment, only as one offs or multiple stories in one novel.
I hope you don't do this with your other novels, i'd love to read them, but now I'm sorry to say I'll be checking for page count.
