Acquire Mitigating Risk (Nora Hazard #1) Depicted By Blaise Corvin Contained In Version

This is the first Blaise Corbin book that I've read but it certainly not the last! I love Nora Hazard.
She's a strong personality who accepts herself, faults and all, She's all too human as well and needs people around her who she can one with,
This is litRPG done well, Seeing how well Nora grows into her powers at such a low level makes you wonder how much stronger she'll get! Even if you are not into litRPG the story is still good SF.
Definitelyfor me. I tried reading Welcome to Ludus aboutyear ago and had to drop itin, Feel free to look at my review at the time for the finer points, but in a nutshell the quality of writing was just too much of an impediment to me immersing in the story.
Blaise Corvin is a prominent author in the LitRPG genre though, so I figured I'd give him another try with a newer offering.

Unfortunately, while this book may be a bit better, the same problems are present, Aboutof the firstpages are a brutally boring infodump, Trying to keep my eyes from skimming down the page was like anyear old trying to hold the leash on a rottweiler when a rabbit runs by.
The economy of words is also very poor, The wording is very passive and bloated even during action scenes,

Example: "I'd been hoping she'd be crazy enough to grab my hair, but I wasn't that lucky.
Just like I'd expected, the beautiful killer darted in, her knife going for a killing strike to my heart while her other hand darted out to secure my knife hand.
"

The passive and overly long description interferes with what is supposed to be a fastpaced scene.
I don't know why the character feels a need to note the beauty

of her attacker for therd time in the middle of the fight this isst person pov so details should be specific to what the character pays attention to rather than just throwing random stuff in there.
Also, I just tend to have a problem with repeating the same verb twice in a sentence in general, but even moreso in an overly long sentence see 'darted'.

As other negative reviews have mentioned, a character with multiple stab wounds who's doing the whole cliche dying speech goes on FOREVER in a scene that failed to be serious and only had me laughing at the levels of cliche that I rarely see outside of a parody.

I gave the book aboutpages before concluding that there is no way I will be able to enjoy it.
If there's a good story in there, unfortunately the quality of writing again is just getting in the way.
.I have one big problem with the book, and that is bookis not out,
I wanted it immediately after finishing book one, Oh well, will read the other books by the author,

It was a bit slow at the start, and it really was not easy or fast for the main character, but the slow
burn at the start gets really fast after the initial slow kick off.
Main character has some angst I thought was pretty well done, I really did like the book, and Im happy with it, It went fast, and
really enjoyed it, This got really exciting in the end, when Nora starts using her natural powers, Reading the next book now!! Pretty good book, I have read some of the Delvers LLC, books, but it honestly never occurred to me that knowing backstory of any ox the characters would be interesting.
However, I'm finding it very interesting, and I plan to follow Nora's adventures to their fullest, I love this book Nora is an amazing character she takes no crap and does what needs to be done.
In the main series, Jason is my favorite but Nora gives Jason a run for his money I cant wait to see what her powers/abilities will grow into in the coming books.
While this story is a bit shorter it packs a lot in there and it makes for an excellent origin story.
The "drake" part had me rolling on the floor laughing my but off Blaise did a fantastic job with that it just kind of hits you with it what's up and you're just like dang wtf man it's so good.
Look do your self the favor check this book out you won't regret it it was all over the place.
it wanted to go everywhere and ended up going nowhere, Not sure If need a spoiler warning on this but I do describe some aspects of the way this book progresses.

Okay so I can give thisbut if could have been so much better.
This book tries to be to many things and ends up only being astar book because of that.
if the author had kept the story on one track it would have been so much better.
The story starts out as a coming of age for the MC character but then goes into a lit RPG thing and before you know it we are in a dungeon type of book.
That is not all, then we change again to a hero bet up the bad guys and skills book.
I liked parts of the book for sure and the series shows potential but I just found the story all over the place, a more stream line plot would have been better in my option.
I will continue with this series as I said I did like most of it and the story has gotten more interesting near the end.
Hopefully the author can maintain the interest in the next book, Really bad, I did not make it through the firstchapters, The story might be great or whatever but the writing is bad, The Chapterfriends murdered while the MC is just standing there, not doing or saying anything really made me cringe.
But then theminute long speech from her friend with her lungs full of blood was just to much.
That speech was just to long and was really stupid, She was shanked three times in the chest, blood in her lungs, if she talks that much she is dead if not bleeding out.
You would be in to much pain to talk either way, Then when you think it is almost done, the girl goes on for anotherminutes,

Weak ass main character, can't handleorpeople being killed in the firstchapters, No way you can call her a badass, If she was a badass, the crazy chick wouldn't of made it past killing the first girl.
Needs more recognition!! Great book

I have read all of Blaises books, But first let me say that I rate books base on how much I enjoyed it and wether I would read it again.
I liked but wouldnt read it again,I might read it again andI will read it more than twice at least.

I try not to write a review with a rating less thanbecause that just messed up.

I really fell into the Delvers LLC storyline from his first book, Nora is in the same universe, I really have been enjoys the real life issues she is struggling with, She grows and opens up as a character, What I really like is that she is a real person who has to struggle to make choices right for her and not let others dictate her life.
She may make bad choices but she learns from them and seems to grow as a character.
It also opened this universe much more with her view of it, Shes a native to Ludas so she has a much different outlook on things than I as an American male have.
Which I think really comes into play and made me understand the world much more,

Blaises writing craft just keep getting better and better, Take a chance on this book and sit back and enjoy the ride,
This book rate if may go up if or when I read it again, Good story

Nora is and an enjoyable read with some interesting viewpoints and comments well mostly thoughts on the World around d her.
The one bone I have with her is several people see greatness in her without to me proper foreshadowing or Intel.
Still a good read looking forward to more, It's been a while since I've read a Ludus book, It did take me a while to get back into the flow of Corvin's story, The story was pretty good as Nora is an interesting character to follow, but her lack of someone to play off of through much of the book is somewhat of a hindrance.
The dungeon section was my favorite part, of the story, and the bit with the drake at the end was quite good.
I hope Nora runs into that orb bonded woman at some point, What a painful book to read/listen to, withof it being the internal contradictory ramblings of the MC.
The narration made it even worse, with the internal monologues using the most obnoxious speaking cadence I can think of while the few lines of dialogue were great.
Why wouldn't the narrator just use the same pattern of speech/cadence as the spoken dialogue

Sadly I have to put up with two more books of this nonsense before finishing the last Delvers LLC book.
DNF. Not for me. Didn't enjoy the self absorbed beginning from the male perspective, MC Nora goes on chatting for awhile on making a big deal about people's sexual attractions, And appearances like no one would ever be with MC because she is hideous, I should have know better and had known better than to get the other ludus books but I got the book and not a surprise.
Thank goodness Audible has a return feature, Really enjoy the Delver's universe and the world of Ludas, Nora's powers were interesting and the set up was cool, It was nice to see small references to other characters from the author's books,

The reason I couldn't rate it as high as the Delvers LLC books, was Nora to me just felt like a female Henry.
She was brash to the point it worked against her, most interactions being Nora telling someone to get to the point and that type of thing, and while Henry has been placed into a strange world I felt Nora didn't have the same excuse.
Although in all fairness the author did try to offset this with her rough upbringing,

Henry usually has Jason and the rest of the gang to offset this behavior so it doesn't annoy the reader too much, but unfortunately Mitigating Risk was largely a solo affair for Nora.
That being said hopefully with the conclusion of the first book the situation will change for the MC and allow things to seem more organic.
Wowzers in my emotional trousers

Man, reviews are difficult, I had honest to goodness tears rolling down my face as I finished this book, The protagonist of this story, not a hero, is socially roughly awkward in every way, yet an absolute bada.
Seeing someone snap and take care of business is magical, This was a wonderful read and Blaise Corvin has quickly risen to one of my favorite authors after Delvers LLC's epic start popped by Corvin cherry.
I am really looking forward to where Nora Hazards journey will lead and I thank you for this tale.
Keep up the good work, your prose and style are wonderful exactly as is, Great world building, Nora's temper issues make it hard to root for her at times, though, When faced with a serious challenge, some twist of fate makes it easy,

Nonspoiler: if there were a flood she would be carried off to safety by a giant hungry seagull.
Freezing to death no worries, there's probably a giant ton ton to curl up in, Scary Yeti finds her ton ton nah that's Jeff the Sasquatch, a professional skier who's looking for an apprentice!

I will continue with the series, but won't get too far unless Nora stops abusing everyone around her.
Nora Hazard's story begins over three years prior to the events of Delvers LLC: Welcome to Ludus.

On Ludus, life is often cheap, Noras childhood hadnt given her many options, With nowhere else to go after losing her family, she had joined an old friend in a street gang and found an unlikely home there.

But unfortunately, tragedy is about to befall Nora, Grudges from the distant past and movements of shadowy organizations may take away everything she is familiar with and all that she holds dearpossibly even her life.

Danger has never stopped her before, but survival may require escaping her old life and embarking on an insane, desperate journey.
On the way, she might even accidentally stumble into both an incredible opportunity, and an incredible burden.

Unfortunately for her enemies, Nora was no pushover before, . . and that was before discovering super powers!

This series has:
A badass, female MC
Gritty violence
Rough language
A harsh fantasy world with its own moral compass
Bravery
Loyalty
