romance', perché si facciano un po' un'idea del carattere e della libertà di movimento delle autentiche eroine vittoriane: evidente soprattutto nella briosa descrizione della sorella minore della protagonista, che gira per i boschi intorno alla casa, libera di farsi corteggiare dal suo deliziosamente goffo spasimante, senza nemmeno l'ombra di uno chaperon.
