Gain Access The Theory Of Everything: A Play By Prince Gomolvilas In Manuscript
was a sweet little play about looking for the next big thing in life, The book is about looking for aliens, on the surface, But the group of Asian Americans in this play are looking for fulfillment, They are looking to win big, Even though they are in Las Vegas, their winnings must be personal and emotional rather than monetary,
I would recommend this quick read to anyone interested
in stage drama, LGBT characters, Asian American representation, or family dysfunction.
Witty and optimistic, with both poignancy and humor, . . and an alien twist.PEN Center USA Award Winner for Drama There is something extremely pleasing and gratifying about reading plays, in part because, for good plays at least, one experiences a different and often more powerful sort of intimacy with the characters.
Not to mention that it's extremely fulfilling to read a whole play in one sitting, I haven't read very many plays but I've decided that I really like it, so any suggestions from you all would be very welcome.
Also, Prince is my friend! He gave me his own personal copy of this play to read! I've never seen one of his plays staged but I am very happy to have read one of them, as I really thought it was great.
Particularly impressive was its notatallannoying handling of Asian American and immigrant issues, Yay Prince! He's not on goodreads as far as I know so I'm not just sucking up, I've always gotten a strange feeling when I read Asian American literature it feels almost voyeuristic to have my own experiences represented somewhere outside the realm of angsty personal essays.
Prince Gomolvilas's portrayal of the group of Asian Americans who meet weekly to watch for UFOs is suitably alien, and the information unearthed about each of their psyches as the play progresses is both beautifully revealed.
As with all plays this can be read as a piece of literature or as a performance, and I find this drama very moving as both.
Very witty and a great opportunity for several Asian actors, I found several monologues in this that would work for Caucasian actors as well, .
