was given this book as a joke, Our church librarian was moving the library and thought that I might enjoy this book, I am attracted to odd books and within minutes flipped through the book and found the story of a hovering witch on page.
After reading through the book, I am surprised that I ended up giving it three,
No matter what century that these types of books are written, they are the same, They are filled with anecdotes and unevidenced assertions, When there are calls for skepticism, they are balanced by calls for open minds to the possibilities of supernatural events.
Anecdotes are generally just presented with no critique,
Newport is not different, but I was impressed with the depth of his research, While he provides no real critique of a flying witch,
he has little patience for ouji boards, astrology, or tarot.
Still, he provide anecdotes that they might really be demonic,
The big surprise is his acceptance of human telepathy, clairvoyance, and thought forms, He separates ghosts into living and ghosts which are a sort of telepathic dust, Newport accepts that people shed parts of their mind where they frequent, These pieces of mind are sometimes mistaken for ghosts, Also people's minds can create thought forms like in Ghostbusters II that can have telekinetic abilities, These creations of your mind, you might mistake as a ghost,
Newport never proves anything, but that is not the goal of his book, Like many authors before him, he simply tells ghost stories when he should have been a candle in the dark.
A hardcover book that is gently used, There is an inscription inside on the first page, Published in. There is not any underlining or highlighting on the pages, Fast shipping!.
