finally finished DoX !!!! What a ride, I truly enjoyed many of the issues, As a fan who has ALWAYS had trouble in navigating storylines since forever I really enjoyed this collective issues, Now all I need is to read the entireissues of RoX and inferno to get to the next hellfire gala, Cup of tea, ain't it :,

Collects GiantSize XMen: Storm:/
I love storm but she felt a bit sidelined in her own issue so meh, I loved the fact that how it continued FantomX story and Emma's and Jean's from before, But I liked to have more depth for Storm herself,

XForce:/
It's classic and felt like old times, I liked it.

XForce:/
I guess it's just another reason for me to dislike Beast,

Excalibur: Dropped

P, s. where was XMenTypically, I read the DoX trades first, then read the individual series TPBs again, In this case it was the opposite,

The Giant Size XMen issue with Storm is really good, One of the better ones in that series, although it is yet more seed planting by Hickman for future conflicts,

The XForce issues were my favorite, specifically the nesting dolls, However, they've once again turned Beast into an hole for no real reason, I'm hoping the Russian threat is dealt with in the immediately future instead of putting it off till later like most other stories from Krakoa,

It's been awhile since I read Excalibur, Having stepped away, I have a little bit of a different perspective on it, It's a unique mix of mutant and fantasy, and I love the art, It has lots of little subplots to keep things interesting, but I don't quite get the working with Apocalypse, Hopefully, the story with the High Lords puts that whole idea to bed, because I've always thought that was another dumb idea from Liefeld, I'm not sure if the story itself just isn't interesting to me, or it's a little convoluted and they've lost me,
Excalibur for the win, Tini Howards story seems like it should be too big for the panelled pages of a comic, but, somehow, the grand scale of the forces misshaping Otherworld continues to beautifully ensorcel and speak to the unique power of comics as a medium for storytelling.
The final volume of Dawn Of X is the first volume where I felt a little lost, I couldn't remember what led to the Giant Sized Storm issue, I had only a vague recollection of the XForce storylines that preceded this, And the whole Excalibur storyline has been largely disinteresting to me since Dawn Of X started,

Oh, and it mentions on the back that this volume contains XMen, It does not. The minutae in the front and the listing of issues on the back cover both plainly mention that this book contains XMen, This isn't true. So someone send some caffeine and a resume to Marvel's trade editorial staff, I understand that this whole Dawn Of X project containing two issues of this Xtitle and one issue of this maybe related Xtitle can be confusing, But you should probably make sure your table of contents matches what's inside the book,

The stories, themselves are all okay, They're clearly building up to the X Of Swords storyline which will transition the Dawn Of X stories to the Reign Of X stories, I'm not super excited for it because it's about swords, and it's going to lean heavily on the Excalibur mythology, and neither of those are the reasons I read Xbooks.

But the Giant Sized Storm, including Monet, Douglock, Emma Frost, and Fantomex was intriguing and fun,

The XForce story reintroduces as villain whom I always enjoyed, and can't believe I didn't realize was going to play a part in this era of XMen.
I like what they've done so far with the story, and look forward to seeing how it folds into XOf Swords,

I skipped most of the Excalbur story, I hope, someday, that Rogue, Gambit, Apocalypse, Jubilee, and Psylocke end up in another part of the Krakoan XUniverse because I really enjoy the characters but, after the first twenty or so issues, Chris Claremont's British Magic Wet Dreams just don't, in any way, appeal to me, and Tini Howard hasn't managed to win me over by mining that section of Xhistory.

I still, as a whole, have appreciated reading the Xbooks as Dawn Of X, as opposed to reading XMen Vol, Excalibur Vol, New Mutants Vol, Cable Vol, Wolverine Vol, XForce Vol, XFactor Vol, Marauders Vol, Fallen Angels, the Empyre tieins, and the Giant Sized Xbooks.
I am intrigued to see how the Reign Of X books will fare after the X Of Swords hardcover,.ish. As always with these books, a mix of good and notsogood, Next up: X of Swords, . . Kinda freaked out when I got to the cover gallery and couldn't find XMen, I guess it was a misprint on the back cover of the TP, The can be found in the X of Swords collection, The series continues with all of the good and bad that that entails, The overall plot moves along at a glacial pace or disappears entirely but the best writers manage to turn the new status quo into something really interesting.

Liked Wolverine and Xfactor best this time around, Loved all the elements of this, and the set up for X Of Swords!

blood, I wish they Fantomax and Storm giants were flipped in publication,

The stories are okay and the XForce feels it covers
One of the older storylines, This is so big I have no idea how this is all going to come together By the time Hickman leaves, Collects GiantSize XMen: Storm, XForce, Excalibur

I was really excited at the start of Hickman's "XMen" run with both "House of X" and "Powers of X," but I've been slowly losing interest in this era of Marvel's Mutants.
It feels like all of the momentum they had has been lost,

Something called The Cerebro Sword shows up in Issueof "XForce," and that undoubtedly will tie into the upcoming for me "X of Swords" event.

When it comes to "Excalibur," there is some cool stuff happening here, but overall, I'm not as interested in this title anymore,

The "Storm" story is a follow up to "GiantSize XMen: Fantomex" story in the last "Dawn of X" collection,

Interestingly, the back cover of the trade paperback of this collection states that "XMen" Issueis included in this collection, but that issue does not appear in the book.
I have seen that it is included in the large "X of Swords" hardcover, though, I am enjoying the Apocalypse A storyline, Immortality brings clarity of perspective, GiantSize XMen: Storm/this issue felt pointless, What's the point of storm creating so much hype for the resurrections to then turn around and not use it herself
XForce,/this story got a little disjointed
Excalibur/
XMen/Storm : A continuation of the GiantSized Fantomex issue, so at least that one is tied in to the storyline and overall, this story carries on from the Jean Grey/White Queen giantsized issue.
Doug continues to be very interesting and interesting tidbits are dropped about his powers and his secrets,/

xforce:/

XForce: Beast continues to be, . . evil not good, anyhow/

Excalibur: Not sure why I continue reading this title, I don't like how the characters are written, and Apocalypse doing shady stuff is, . . not surprising or exciting./

Excalibur:/

The copyright page says XMenis in this volume, but the book I'm holding sure doesn't have it, The big Storm issue wasn't as fun as the GiantSize Fantomex issue in the previous volume, but it still backed a decent narrative punch,

Was a little surprised that the XForce book is still alive, And things are certainly taking a darker turn in that book as it seems there's a traitor on Krakoa who has been sharing information with their enemies.

Excalibur is still a bit of a struggle for me I think Jubilee and Riktor remain some of the better parts of the book and Jubilee hasn't been all that impactful as of late.
But the Mutant Formerly Known as Apocalypse really has a major plan that has been building up and I guess we'll just have to deal with things eventually.
Is he really still on the side of advancing the cause of mutantkind Or is he going to fall back on his old agenda of trying to do whatever he feels is necessary to advance the species as a whole

But enough with this time to get into some serious X of Swords business because I still have no idea what the crossover event is supposed to be about.
GiantSized Storm: Meh. This was already collected in the GiantSized XMen trade, so kind of redundant to include it here, Good enough story and art, but nothing I really needed to revisit,

Marauders: Shit is getting dark and I'm going to have to get some nightvision goggles because I dont want to miss a thing, Beast gone bad is always fun to read, I'm not a fan of the move they made with Piotr, but I'm willing to see what comes of it it just really doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of what Krakoa or the XMen in general are all about, but I assume there's a plan within the plan that will be revealed hopefully soon.

Excalibur: Much more enjoyable than I've previously found this title, Maybe it's because I'm high, but I found these installments to be funny and really well rendered, and I'm always a sucker for getting to see Apocalypse's back story get more fleshed out, so all in all, I enjoyed this.
Somebody needs to take away absolutely all of Beast's authority, Clearly other people are noticing his behavior, geez, Intrigue in the Dawn of X! The Jonathan Hickmanled reimagining of mutantkind continues! The New Mutants fi ght to protect the next generation of mutantkind! Wolverine is the best he can be! Storm's life hangs in the balance in a giantsize adventure! Excalibur face otherworldly threats! And the XMen are at the center of it all! But what lies in store for Krakoa as the events of Empyre conclude

Collects GiantSize XMen: Storm, XForce, Excalibur.
I wish I'd read this before X of Swords, but what's done is done, The two issues of Excalibur here directly lead into that story, so if it's certainly best to read this first, I still don't love Excalibur, by the way, The two issues of XForce feature a weird and silly class of mooks, called Russian nesting dolls: literally tiny bloody fighters burst out of the bodies of fullsize henchmen, Alien style.
The actual mastermind behind the attacks is an interesting choice, but I just can't get over how silly it looks to see XMen stomping on wee little bad guys.
The Storm issue looks great, but she's very passive in a story that's supposed to be about her, And finally, XMenis not actually in this book, even though the summary here and on the back of the trade says it is, This is the last Dawn of X collection, and the series will continue with Reign of X after the X of Swords story, I feel like a lot of Dawn has been setting up stories that will happen in Reign, and I'm looking forward to seeing them get told, You kinda have to judge these trades on the collection as a whole, sequence of the issues, and the extras,

This is the last DOX and this volume does an excellent job of highlighting some main threads leading into X of Swords, The Giant Sized Storm may seem out of the place, but the Vault stuff plays a bigger part in ROX, XForce shows just how crazy cultish some mutants are getting F U Beast, and the Excalibur stories set up X of Swords

The aren't many extras and they are Storm dominant but the quality is high.
There is nice black and white art from Alex Ross, and some uncolored Dauterman work

Having the DOX and ROX trades is a win win for everyone.
Disney gets their money, collectors get a nice bookshelf, and the X Universe is given a Game of Thrones type feel with different points of view that will somehow all connect.
