Capture Wanted Dead Or Alive (Slippery When Wet, #1) Interpreted By Jenna Byrnes Shown As Script

on Wanted Dead Or Alive (Slippery When Wet, #1)

Dead or Alive is the first in the Slippery When Wet series, I actually read first the second book, didn't realize it was a series and when I read the third I made the connection.
The series follows the lives of four former con mate, Dan, Logan, Damien and Snake when they were in prison, they helped another man, Joe, and this put them on the wrong side of another prisoner, Felix, who has the right connection to make their life very difficult when they will finally go out.
Another thing that links them is that they are all petty criminal at least I believe, I haven't yet read Snake's story and that they are all gay.
. . and they were gay even before going into jail,

Of all the three life stories, that of Dan is probably the more easy and also sad.
He was in the wrong place at the wrong moment with the wrong friend, His friend almost killed a man, and Dan was young and stupid enough to try to run away instead of facing the law.
And he didyears of jail for that, During the time he even befriended the man who almost was killed, and when he went out, he still had a sister who was willing to help him.
And after only two days he even finds a boyfriend, Trey, . . life seems good, isn't it But his old enemy doesn't forget, and Dan is framed for a crime he hasn't committed.
And again he runs away, but this time realizes soon enough that running away is not the solution to his problem.

I have the feeling that Dan is real young, I don't know exactly how many years he has, he didyears in prison, so he has to be at leastyears old if not more, but probably he still thinks like a scared teenager.
And even if Trey is really a wonderful man, caring and gentle, I think he is not an imposing figure.
In a way it's better like that, Dan has always proved to not be keen of the male role figure, and in fact, with Trey, it's Dan who takes the lead, even if the first move was made by Trey.
All in all I think that this time Dan was lucky, he met a man who is average enough, and faulty enough, to be at his same level, and so Dan is willing to listen and take in account his advice.
It's interesting, Trey is the perfect man for Dan since he is not a perfect man,

Oh, I almost forgot: I found another point in common with all the stories, . . all the men have a quite steamy shower alone but fantasizing of the man they have just met, . . a coincidence or that Slippery When Wet in the title of the series means something more than the title of the LP collecting all the songs from with the books borrow

sitelink amazon. com/dp Dan Radisson has been released from Corcoran State Prison and never intends to go back, He's working his twelve steps, minding his own business, and trying to resume some degree of normality while living in the home of his sister and her family.
Trey Wallace knows what he likes and isn't afraid to go after it, When he meets Dan at an AA meeting he sees exactly what he wants, but questions whether the newly freed man is ready to dive into the type of sexual relationship Trey has in mind.
Dan's ready for the sex, but not so sure about life on the outside, When he stumbles upon a homicide and runs from the scene in the same way he did in the past, suddenly he's a wanted man.
Dan must either solve the crime or risk returning to the place he dreads the mostthe prison that changed his life.
Possibly the fastest case of instalove I've ever read, The characters were just too quick to declare never ending feelings for me so not my cup of tea.
If you like that type of thing, the rest of the story is not bad, The Characters

Dan Radisson, brother to a sister who just wants the best for him, brotherinlaw to a cop who thinks hes clearly a waste of space, uncle to a little dynamo who just never slows down and hes also an excon.

Trey Wallace, go getter and not afraid or ashamed of doing things his own way, He also the guy who once his mind his made up he gives one hundred percent trust and he has made his mind up about one Daniel Radisson.

The Plot

Newly released excon Dan Radisson is not clear on the path he intends to take now that he was out of prison.
One thing he knows for a fact is that he is never going back, Trying to get some normalcy back into his life, he does what he has to do and keeps his head down.

Meeting Trey at an AA meeting makes Dan feel more normal than he has felt in a long time.
Trey is unlike anyone Daniel has ever met, hes only fault in Daniels eye is his insistency on taking things slow.

One of Dans first attempt at following the twelve steps program finds him standing in the middle of a homicide with blood on his hands.
He goes with his gut instinct and runs, Only one thing can save him, he needs to solve this one on his own hes forgotten however that he is not on his own and the man who trust him above all else, is with him every step of the way.

Surprise Element

The level of detail of what Dan went through during his time in prison, was a definite surprise to me.
We all read books about prison and its dark underbelly but its for all intense and purposes normally gloss over especially in romance, however Ms.
hill has given us a view into the going on behind bar and its some kinda scary,

Another surprise was for such a short story, the emotional upheaval that this book created was enormous.
This shouldnt have been a surprise to me after reading so much of Ms, Hills work, however first timer be prepare she knocks your socks off,

Predictability

When you hear the word excon in a story you just knew the usual suspect were going to come out and play.
I knew something would happen but not what, To say Ms. Hill, pull off a surprise would be an understatement, One minute you are thinking you know whats coming next, but oh no that was right where the predictability stopped.

Smut/Ick Factor

One thing i have always admired about this author is that she actual writes a story.
Its not all smut and it is just so with WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE, there was enough there to make it worth your while, as both men i thought were, probably from life experience conscious or conscientious enough to know how far was far enough.

Positive

I am a big moaner of a little bit of a back history to characters, i think its does make a difference to the story with WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE we are given the bits that are important to the story and it worked.

In this rather dark tale of murder, mystery and misdemeanour there were a few rays of sunshine with just the everyday things we take for granted that were so unexpected, yet they made a difference.

While there were some rather disturbing issues dealt with in this book, I like the fact that they were.
Nothing was glossed over Dan dealt with it, he wasnt traumatised, he just knew that hes passed that time in his life understood the code of the prison brotherhood and you can only respect the men making certain decisions once they are on the other side of those gates.

Theres a level of humanity to this book that is indescribable, forgiveness, humbleness and even the fact that pushing you does not mean pushing you away is wonderful to see.

I also like the fact that all the lose ends were tied up, you werent left wondering what happened to or if that happened, all the important areas were addressed.

Negative

I am thinking what did i find off putting about this book, I knew the books was a short story so i cant moan about that, there were some moment that were real eye opener but they only made the story.
The story was by no mean perfect but i liked it,

Cover

The cover come as part of Phazes “Slippery When Wet” series, so i would imagine we will see it again.
It feels very process and it did nothing for me, for the mere fact that i thought the story was a better story that the cover that was attached to it.
T. S. T. L. insta love . Life's too short. Dans just out of prison after serving eight years for armed robbery and attempted murder, His only saving grace was he didnt pull the trigger but he certainly didnt learn anything from his time in prison.
He meets Trey, a mechanic, at his first AA meeting and is instantly taken with the selfassured handsome man.
Dan may resent the meetings as hes not an alcoholic, but hes happy to meet a sexy guy who may offer more than just friendship from the start.

This theme of Dan not being responsible is repeated often as hes framed for a crime a mere three days after his release from prison.
As usual Dan flees from the police once again, this time taking Trey with him as the sex between the two is simply too good to leave behind.
While the premise is slightly farfetched, the real problems came within the execution, The story arc suffered from corny dialogue and multiple coincidences to further the action, The complicated and sophisticated setup of the crime for which Dan was framed is completely at odds with the description of the actual perpetrator and the resolution is partly predictable and partly unbelievable.

The characterization within the story was unfortunately mediocre at best with clichéd characters and hollow emotions.
Dan is certainly humanized with his struggle to fit back into society and his family, yet for the majority of the story seems to drift without focus or purpose.
He moves from nervous, insecure and hesitant to strong and confident with a swagger simply from sex with Trey.
However, this newfound confidence doesnt stop Dan from the kneejerk reaction of running from the police and discovering the truth on his own.
While this is somewhat understandable, Dan takes very few actions to find the truth and instead focuses on the sex with Trey.

Trey for his part is largely underdeveloped, He falls in love with Dan after a marathon sex session and follows the excon as they run from the police without much thought about where theyre going to go or how theyre going to avoid a large manhunt.
His motivations and feelings come across as hollow and empty without real thought or emotion behind the words, There is little to explain why Trey fell in love with Dan other than Trey likes rough sex and Dan is willing to provide.
The secondary characters of Dans family were largely forgettable stereotypes that added nothing to the story sadly,

Of course all ends well with a lot of implausible action and heroic rescue scenes, Unfortunately on top of the clumsy writing and awkward sex scenes that riddled the story made this ultimately not enjoyable to read.
It is short, which made it easier to get through and fans of the authors writing may enjoy this story, as its typical of the writing and plot of her offerings.
However, I ultimately cant recommend this to most readers, Jenna Byrnes could use cabinet space and hours in a day, Shed fill the kitchen with gadgets her husband purchases off TV and let him cook for her to his hearts content.
