One of the stories from it called "Crying Wolf" has haunted me for years haha, There is violence and actual deaths of kids in these stories sometimes too, Old Children's Book. Liked it as a kid, but haven't read it in years, bought this book when i was a aroundor, i've probably read it at leasttimes, Welch passes the torch on to Q, L. Pearce, who does an admirable job keeping the Sleepovers series going for many, many volumes, Her first outing yields an impressive number of scares, and many of the stories are equally memorable compared to the originals.


The most memorable scares come from the very first story, Swimming Lessons, which is a hell of an intro to the book.
The monsters are the victims of drowning, and stand in mobs on the surface of the lake, staring at anyone unlucky enough to be dragged into their territory by the ungodly current.
When their victims are just beginning to realize that they're not entirely human, they slip beneath the waves.
