I quite enjoyed looking up all the titles on Goodreads as I came across them, and couldn't help beaming every time I saw a familiar old friend that most people I know have never heard of hello, two different novels by the name of The Snow Pony that are both on my physical bookshelf!, but while the brief exploration of certain themes or passages within these titles was helpful for illuminating older books with limited attention on Amazon/Goodreads, I can't really tell you what its larger point or purpose was because it bogged itself down in such boring critical analysis that I started to very quickly remember why I scoffed at most everything I was taught in pursuit of an English degree.

a combination of basic citations and actual supplemental information, also got to be a bit much.

There is also a helpful bibliography, in addition to a separate author amp title index in the back as well as a general index taking up so much space that it should be noted the writing actually ends on page, if you prefer to just look up titles online without potential content spoilers.
I must confess that I haven't read this in its entirety, I was using it for an assignment, but found it so interesting that I kept forgetting to skim through and thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in the book.
