was fine although I generally dont read books like this, It was grounding and uplifting so nothing bad to say about it, Just a little repetitive here and there and we knew how it was going to end so not super interesting.
But it was a fast read and a humbling read, A powerful and well written memoir, The Pact by Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, Rameck Hunt, amp Lisa Frazier Page.
The book tells the incredible journey of three teenage boys who live in one of the highest crime rate cities of New York who make a pact by which they plan to stay together and fulfill their dreams of becoming doctors.

This book can be emotional to the reader because the main characters do not have father figures to look up to nor to teach them the life lessons they need to grow up into powerful men.
As a group it's up to them to keep each other off the streets, Sam, George, and Rameck all face different challenges that are very hard for each and every one of them, however with a friendship so strong they work together to keep each other from giving up.

The way they chose to write this story is very relatable as a teen because Im at the point in my life where I need to start making life changing decisions.
They switched between characters to show you what hardship they were going through at the time, which Im sure others could relate to as well.

No matter the circumstances you can achieve any goal, These boys had nothing. They grew up thinking that they would never make it and that they weren't allowed to go to college.
I absolutely recommend this book to any and everyone because it can inspired you to do great things.

A well written novel,THE PACT takes us back to the young ages of three doctors whos lives werent always easy and dreams were hard to accomplish.
Three boys from different schools get close and become best friends or better yet more like brothers, after attending the University High School.
The novel is written by the three main characters whose names are Drs, Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt,

The reasons why I chose to read this book is because, its was based on a true story.
Also its not like those books where everything in the story is perfect and blah blah, This novel is about the pact that was made one day after a presentation that Sam, Rameck and George attended this pact was made by the three teenagers who show effort and try to stay out of trouble.
Sam, Rameck amp George had gone through a lot to stay out of trouble and not break the pact they committed to and becoming doctors.

The set up of the novel was confusing to me maybe because Im one of those who doesnt pay attention to the chapters names, but besides that it was very interesting the way it was set up.
The first three chapters start off with telling a brief summary about each and one of their own lives.
Its like a pattern in the way that in each chapter they exchange their point of view during that time of their life and everything that was going on around them.
Its Interesting how all chapters no matter whos point of view it is, it fit right with it its almost as if one person wrote the novel and not three.
I didnt realize each chapter was written by a different author until I went back and looked at the chapters and realized it was three totally different people.
Besides the confusion of the set up it was very well written the writing style was all the same gave good description about the situation.

The plots in the story are mainly about being around bad influence , neighborhood and money expensive.
Sam ,Rameck , and George get enough help from a teacher who is always there for them in case trouble is around.
Rameck , George and Sam learn to stay on the safe side of the road and even find jobs to help themselves out in college and manage to be on their own.
As time goes by they are always one step closer to fulfilling their pact that had been made.

I personally liked this book for a person like me who doesnt like to read i really enjoyed it.
Its the type of book that gets you thinking about the saying” people dont change in certain things” but this proves wrong if you want to achieve something and set your mind and goals up high you will succeed but you have to give all your effort and not expect things being handed to you.
If Sam Rameck and George were able to change their lives and become someone in life we all can do it we just have to put our part too.
Sam, Rameck, and George have showed it is possible,

If youre like me who doesn't read often but likes these life changing books where its based on true story and likes these memoir novels then this might just be a good book for you to read.
I would recommend this book to anyone honestly, especially since i don't read often but this book had me reading.
This life story also lets you know that if they were able to become someone important and helpful in this world then we can manage to accomplish it as well.
The premise was nice. I like how they went through stuff and came out doctors, Partially growing up
In Newark, I honestly expected a little more craziness in their backgrounds, but it was okay.
I guess the storytelling could have been better, if written by more seasoned writers,
Overall it was a decent read and nice to see people from disadvantaged backgrounds prosper and become successful.
state non fiction rec for New Jersey A well written book, The Pact it takes the reader to a whole different world through the lives of three different teenager boys.
An unexpected turn came into these two boys they

started out on not caring about school ditching getting into fights going into the wrong group of people.
Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt when they were in high school they made a pact that they will help one another through no
matter what goes on in life.
This novel is really interesting Its a three part book with each part is different stories and different author from different characters point of view in this story.
Each author takes on their parts of a crazy childhood/life for the main characters when it gets to the middle/end of the chapter of the book, all the previous crazy past the main characters had a huge life changing in their lives.

Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt did a great job with telling their personal lives.
When i was reading the book i didnt know that it was written by different authors until i was finish and going through each chapter and saw different names in the chapters.
The authors did really good on working together, the authors made it seem that it was only written by one author.
The stories didnt change at all and the switching of each authors point of view,

the best part i love about this book was that you can get to read about very different stories about these three different guys that want to become doctors and dentist.
Each character experience about being in college and also getting to experience on being a doctor and working with people.
All three guys have experience on being alone getting apartments to stay in, family problems, best friends, heartbreaks, topics that the readers can relate to in this story The Pact.

This book will start out slow and boring but once you get to the middle/end of the book it will start getting interesting that you wont be able to take your eyes off of the book.
I would recommend this book to whoever have gone through something rough in their lives with college or friends problem, or family trouble.
When i started reading this book and thought i wouldnt like it but once it got to showing who these three teenagers really are and how their lifestyle is then i started to get into the book and loved it! The Pact is about three young men who grow up in Newark a dangerous place to live during thes ands.
Sam, George, amp Rameck all had tough childhoods growing up, but when they met and made a pact it changed their lives forever.

One of my favorite parts in the book is when they asked This book is aboutblack men from a rough neighborhood in New Jersey who make a pact in high school to all go to college and medical/dental school and become doctors.
Each chapter alternates between each of the three friends, George, Sam, and Rameck, While I thought the idea was wonderful that these three friends worked so hard to break out of their circumstances and become successful, contributing members of society, I didn't like the heavyhanded overtones of "let's blame the system," "white people don't help black people," etc.
There was a good deal of focus on the fact that because these guys didn't have stable homes, good fathers, etc.
that they were doomed to become drugdealers, thugs, etc, I certainly understand that may seem like the only way, especially when you don't have a lot of support from home and you are surrounded by many others who have chosen that route.
But I would remind all of us that many people are born into lessthanideal circumstances white, black, hispanic, poor, from broken homes, little to no support from home or community, disabilities, illnesses and have to overcome a lot to be successful in their lives.
I do have to give these three major kudos for sticking it out and achieving their goals.
Giving in and giving up is much easier than working hard, Really encouraging. After reading this inspiring memoir, The Pact makes the reader believe that any dream you have is able to be fulfilled.
It describes the struggles of three young African Americans striving to make their dreams about becoming doctors come true, and how they all made a promise never to give up on themselves.
Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt all grew up in the broken homes in New Jersey neighborhoods riddled with crime, drugs, death, and how all three men made it out of the “streets”, overcame the temptations, and achieved their dreams.

The setup of this story is very different from usual memoirs, every chapter is one of the authors telling his side of how he survived living in the “streets”.
Each author goes into very deep detail about how hard life was for a young man growing up and how their families struggled.
The authors had a similar home life, and goals, They all wanted to make something of themselves and be able to prove to all the people telling them they cant do it, that they could achieve their dreams of finishing High School, College, Medical school, and finally, becoming Doctors.

The authors did a very good job on making the book flow through their whole lives.
It starts off with them being three very young kids and each wanting to become successful and them striving to do whatever it takes to achieve their dream.
The book really gets into detail of each important event from being young grade school students to being successful doctors.
After finishing this book, it really makes you wish there was a sequel, It shows the readers that this is a true story and that many people all over the world are facing different problems and situations that they can not control and that even when you think you have hit rock bottom, you still can rise up from it.

I chose this book because I am interested in nonfiction stories and like to read about true life events.
After reading the introduction I knew I was going to relate to this book in some way.
Once you open this book and start reading it really makes you not want to put it back down.
It keeps the reader hooked and makes them want to really find out what happens in the end.
I recommend this to anyone who loves to read about real life events and to anyone that needs some inspiration to show them that as long as you believe in yourself, you too can achieve your goals in life.
