hated most of this book, I think so much of it was written from the perspective of someone clearly intellectualizing other people's lived trauma, while lacking in any real empathy, and that was hard to read.
A survivor of complex trauma would have never written about this topic in this way, but likely would have made the same arguments which are mostly valid and helpful in a way that wasn't so.
. . shitty. It felt like there was a lot of setting victims against each other whose trauma is actually worse! in order to make points that really could have been made in other ways.
The second half of the book, however, had a lot of really valuable insights that I found to be helpful, Not bad, but controversial A very different point of view, An emotionally difficult read, but worth the upset nevertheless, This compelling new book explores the complexities of the global child sex industry, but without falling into cliche and melodrama, Julia O'Connell Davidson draws attention to the multitude of ways in which children become implicated in the sex trade, and the devastating global political and economic inequalities that underpin their involvement.
