hmmm . . Not really what i expected so a little disappointed, For those of you that know me, . . and those that don't this is my little statement about short books, I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that short stories, So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer.
. . but it is a short story, So with that said . here is my review
This is an amazing short tale of how Alyson and Torin came to be, For those of you that are familiar with Ms, Amanda's work you will remember Tortured if you read it you will remember you will remember Torin, He is the brother of our heroine in that story, We meet him as a small child then we see him as a grown man, . . so we never know his middle story, And that is what this story is about, . .
This book is the middle of Torin's life which we finally are able to get into! Oh yeah! You should really read Tortured to truly know where Torin came from and where he went.
Even though you may not have read Tortured, you can still read this one, Ms. Amanda does the wonderful job she always does of bringing the story right into our minds, She gives us just enough back story for us to understand and grasp Torin's story, But to truly understand the man, you really should read Tortured, And another great reason to read Tortured, . . you get to find out exactly what happens to Alyson and Torin, Trust me you won't be disappointed! I promise,
Alyson comes "from a long line of seers, Her druid mother and two generations before her were all skilled in being able to read palms and perform other tasks of the magical ancient arts, " This was the praise that was offered to dinner guest from her Master General Ambrosius, Alyson and her family served General Ambrosius in one capacity or another, They love serving General Ambrosius for he is
a just and fair man, Even though he was retired from the military he went back to help the people of Britannia, He wanted what Alyson and her people wanted their land back in the hands of the Celti people not the Saxon,
I have thought and wrote and erased my review for Torin's story, . . that is not a bad thing, . . but I wanted this review to really capture the essence of Torin and Alyson, This is a short story and truly a hard book to review because I do NOT want to give away to much of the book, For those of you who have read Tortured believe me, I know you are dying to know how Torin and Alyson came together, But for those of you that have not read Tortured, . . this will simply wet your appetite for more, Either way, you will want to know more about Torin!
Torin is a commander of his make shift army, His purpose is to defeat the King of the Saxon and defend the honor of his Celti/Roman people, He has a heart of pure gold but he is a man of honor and duty, Nothing has ever shaken his resolve to his call of duty, Nothing until he locks eyes with a woman who will change his whole world, To watch a man become bewitched and fall for a woman is always a pleasure especially when that is not what he thinks he needs, . . a woman, lol.
This is not just a love story of boy cough, man meets girl cough, woman, No, Ms. Amanda knows there has to be conflict, danger and evil to over come, And yet again, Ms. Amanda delivers that and so much more, For this being a short story, Ms Amanda gives me the things that I need and that makes her an awesome author, You will escape for a few hours back in time, . . to a place of magical things, . . You will get wrapped up in Alyson and Torin's world, . . and it will not let you go till they are done with you, . and still you will want more enter Tortured, lmbo,
I pined after this story and I am so thrilled to say that this is what I wanted!! To know what happened to him, to see what drove him to where I last saw him.
. . priceless. So if you read or have not read Tortured get ready because you will want to read reread it!!
