you are looking for the great American novel, move on, However if you are looking for a nice low level chapter book to try and help your budding reader grow stinger, this is a good choice especially for girls.
I listened to it in the car with my niece, She really liked it she's a second grader and it gave us a chance to talk about the first two books she read without me,
She wants to keep reading the series and after years of her fighting and not wanting to read, So any excitement she has toward reading, I'm thrilled, Love it Great book for early readers Another fun Katie Kazoo book only this time she switched places with a baby!
It was nice to learn how to do ventriloquism and it's another fun book in the series! My six year old this book was so great because it had jokes in it.
We listened to this book on a car trip, Myyear old picked it out at the library, While I didn't appreciate the story very much the whole magic wind switcheroo concept was a little too much for me to swallow, she really enjoyed it and asked to get more.
This series is also pretty popular among some of my second grade library patrons too, particularly girls, Go figure! In this story, Katie deals with not being "big enough, " Two of Katie's classmates go to see the scary movie Tornado! Katie and Suzanne attempt to go, but they are not allowed to see it, Katie struggles with not feeling grown up enough, What I am noticing as a trend in this series is the confliction Katie faces, and then she turns into someone who shows her another perspective,
Katie turns into her best friend, Suzanne's, three month old sister, Heather, Jeremy and Katie are over at Suzanne's house, when the wind comes in and turns Katie in Heather, Luckily no one sees the transformation, but Katie is now trapped in Heather's crib and she finds herself frustrated, She is unable to sit up or roll over, She begins to cry. Suzanne runs in and tries to bottle fed Katie, The formula is gross, and Katie is even more frustrated, and she smells something not pleasant, Suzanne notices the smell and announces she is going to change Heather's diaper, Katie freaks out and speaks loudly, only the problem is, it appears Heather is the one whom has spoken, Suzanne and Jeremy are convinced Heather is a genius,
At school the next day there is an article in the school paper about Heather, Suzanne is bragging about her smart sister, and Katie tries to figure out a way to fix this mess!
I really can see why younger kids like this series for adults.
The humor is right up their alley, The books may be a bore for the grownups, but there seems to be a bit of a lesson in each story,
I read this book with my about to bend grader, alternating chapters she reads one to me, and then I read one to her, so she can practice reading without the process of getting through a book being quite so torturous to both of us.
I'm guessing she learned about the series in school from a friend, but she seemed familiar with it and really wanted to read this one, She enjoyed it and want to find out what would happen next, I found it boring and predictable, but I'm not sure what to expect of books on and grade reading level, It's certainly not the sort of children's book an adult can also enjoy, She seems to be very keen on reading books only with female primary characters, so it seems to me that that is what most of the children's books have these days, but perhaps I will learn differently when my son is reading.
. . when katie turns into suzzane's baby sister she makes her baby sister talk now suzzane thinks that her baby sister is a genuis and she brings her baby sister to show proof that her baby can talk.
when she brings her to school and the baby doesn't talk every body thinks she's a liar but katie wasn't because she was the baby and she made it talk.
Suzanne had to watch her baby sister, Katie and some other friends were hanging out with Katie, Katie went up to her crib and this cold breeze hit her neck, And then it happened again, What do you think will happen next Well, Katie fell to the floor, The baby was her and she was the baby! Do you think Katie will be herself again What do you think about the book so far Have you read this book before Katie and Suzanne want to see the new big movie, Tornado, but neither of their parents will let them.
As Suzanne complains loudly about always being treated like her baby sister, Katie actually becomes Suzanne's baby sister, Heather, When Katie is Heathershe speaks, Find out how Katie gets out of this one!
