La oruga muy hambrienta: Spanish board book Reviews

It is pretty much what you'd expect the same excellent board book as English speaking children have been enjoying for nearly half a century, but with the text translated into Castilian Spanish. So why only three stars? Sadly this translation has been done by translating pre school English into somewhat mature Spanish, rather than Spanish at the equivalent reading level. For example the English term little egg becomes huevecillo; technically it's the correct term for a small egg such as that of an insect, but it's not a word a 3 year old native Spanish speaker would be expected to know: a better translation at this level would have been huevo pequeño, i.e. literally little egg. That said, I'm sure my 3 year old will love it, despite his parents' appalling Spanish pronunciation!

Who can not like this lovely little tale? My 20 month old loves it, especially the last page of the butterfly and seeing the 'oruga' having eaten through the items and popping out on the next page. Vocab is useful for little uns learning the language as they can recognise things from the pictures. Also good for learning numbers, days of the week and fruit names.

Hello, I am happy for what I got. It was just what I needed and it was exactly as I saw it in the photo in the advert. I am also happy with the quality of the product and the postal speed, it arrived right before the tine I needed it for. Thanks a million

Just like the original but in Spanish! I could have done with some idiot notes on how to pronounce some of the words as I had to practice alot before I was able to read it to the children but the book itself was great
