Free Dove : Graham, Robin L. Illustrated By Robin L. Graham Displayed In Digital
enjoyable read for the most part although the final few chapters content was somewhat disjointed, leading to a rapid ending, Considerable achievement given the lack of technology at that time, This book made me want to drop everything and go back to my Ala Bianca, currently moored in Gibraltar, Another few weeks and well be sailing east towards Malta, This book kept me sane, It reminded me of the things I did when I was/, travelling, meeting people of different cultures and customs, It reminded me that although most of us get caught up in “doing the right thing” there are some who never give up and continue use to live the dream.
To say this is inspirational would be to belittle the reasons why Robin sailed around the world, Even he couldnt express the real reasons, but it is a compulsion, Something you have to do, Safety, responsible behaviour, should do, shouldnt do, all becomes irrelevant, Yes theres a price to pay, but it comes down to what you are willing to pay, because the piper will always need to be paid in the end.
This book definitely made me yearn back to my late teens and earlys in a way that no other book has and brought back some fond memories.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with me, Me ha encantado.
My all time favourite book and tested through overyears as I have followed Robin and his family through their life struggles as I have been living mine.
It starts with this uplifting tale of hisround the world achievement as well as a thoughtfully depicted log book of his travels, his trials and his discoveries, of the world and of himself as he covers over, nautical miles alone in his trusty little sloop,
Dove, it is also a charming love story and a terrific travel log of the world at the time.
He was brave, human and vulnerable, As we all are. Absolutely heart felt and heart warming, Amazing! This was required reading in high school, and one of two books I had to purchase when I graduated inthe other was Flowers for Algernon.
I now own both as ebooks, I do not know how many times I have read Dove, but each time is just like the first, It takes me on a journey which I always look forward to, from the very first chapter, I can not recommend this book enough, . Thank you for writing it ! Thoroughly enjoyed this round the world sailing account of a teenager learning and becoming an adult as he developed duringyears of travel.
I wonder if you and Patti are still living in Montana, is there to tell In,year old Robin Lee Graham began a solo around the world voyage from San Pedro, California, in afoot sloop.
Five years and, miles later, he returned to home port with a wife and daughter and enough extraordinary experiences to fill this bestselling book, Dove.
