Fred McDowell: The Voice of Mississippi Delta Blues Guitar Reviews

Just about the best transcriptions of Fred McDowell going but if you are planning to use the book to play slide you do need at least one of the Arhoolie albums to listen to.

This is a very good collection of Delta songs by Mr McDowell. They are mostly slide guitar in open D tunings and can be played 'upright' or on the lap steel. Mr McDowell's style is full of feeling but not technically difficult, even relative beginners at slide guitar could play these with some practise. All of the songs are on you tube, some of them actual footage of Mr McDowell playing and singing so you see before you buy and know how they should/could be played.

The transcription for you've got to move didn't sound right to me at all. I've been playing a different version (from a Stephan Grossman book) that sounds much closer.
