Simple Italian Sandwiches: Recipes from Americas Favorite Panini Bar Reviews

I don't normally buy recipe books without looking inside to see if they whet my appetite. But I'd read the reviews for this on the.com website so took the plunge as we have had a panini maker for over a year now and have been struggling with variations. This is a lovely quality book with fabulous pictures. The downside is that it requires specific Italian ingredients, particularly the types of ham and cheese so you will need to be able to visit an Italian deli if you want to be authentic and make use of all the ideas. But the upside is that it gives good tips on how to make a great panini ie put the cheese on the top so when it melts it drips down through the other ingredients and also to cut the top off the ciabatta so it's not too thick. I wouldn't particularly recommend it for vegetarians as I think there are only 2 veggie panini recipes. But there are also some recipes for relishes which would jazz up a simple vegetable panini. And there are some lovely bruschetta ideas and salad dressings which are suitable for everyone. So all in all I am pleased with the book. Even though I probably won't be exactly following the panini recipes, it has turned out to be a great book for lovely Italian snacks if you like that kind of thing.

Brought this as I wanted to make nicer and adventurous toasted sandwiches. I have not been disappointed, the recipes generally call for no than three ingredients, some do need advance prep, I tried the tuna and black olive pesto in ciabatta and it was lovely!
