The postcard has long been an artistic form of expression, whether altering existing postcards or making new ones from scratch. This catalog looks at the process since the 1960s to the present, with a wealth of examples, from the strictly personal to the cultural to the political — and often all three at once. I've previously reviewed several books about individual postcard artists; this volume provides a wider overview of possibilities, enough to provide inspiration for anyone intrigued by the form. There's an emphasis on the scathingly satiric in these pages, as many of the artists have something to say, something they NEED to say — and they do so! But there's also whimsy & beauty to be found here as well. This is a smart look at an often overlooked aspect of artistic expression — recommended!
