For nearly a century, their audio products, television sets, and telephones have broken the established rules and conventions of product design, dictating visual trends and altering irrevocably the appearance of our homes in the process.

Overviews of both the materials and the manufacturing processes used for each Bang & Olufsen model are complemented by profiles on the designers behind each innovative creation. Throughout, the company’s underlying philosophy remains unwavering: design must always serve a purpose. Featuring an extensive archive of sketches and prototypes, 300 specially commissioned photographs of individual products in various interior settings, as well as an exclusive insight into the models that never found their way onto the market, this is the definitive publication on a company whose design inventions are in a league of their own. 300+ illustrations

Very nice book. But for fans of industrial design / audio product design and B&Os design philosophy over the years. Disappointing gaps of certain product lines such as Beogram (only a single mention considering the cover design is based off of the Beogram platter). If you want a comprehensive product catalogue, this book will disappoint. If you’re interested in design, approach, and B&Os company, this book will delight

I've loved Bang & Olufsen ever since I was in high school. I was never lucky enough to own it then, but I'd frequent the store just to gaze at the futurism and magnificence of these products masquerading as modern art pieces they set my imagination alight and truly informed my love for creativity 10 years since. This is the type of book I wish most designers produced when reflecting on their history. It's filled with wonderfully written, personal pieces by designers, engineers and directors alike, shedding light on major moments in the company's history that in many cases, those of us outside the factory walls would have never known about. I also appreciate the full page photography dedicated to their product line, which unusually do not show the products as we know them, but their prototypes, miniatures or actual cross sections that reveal the internal components hidden within their svelte forms. The cross section photography in particular is gorgeous as it seems like your looking inside an organism I'm almost tempted to buy a second copy to cut out those pages to be framed. Also worthy of note, the red B&o strip you see on the cover is actually a removable paper band, which means the cover [front and back] is just as minimally beautiful as their products. An absolute treasure of a book that book designers, engineers, product designers, art lovers and B&O fans alike will cherish.

Bang has so many iconic designs that are poorly covered and photographs are really not on the levels they should be, details are missing, this brand should have detailed and attractive book!

As a B&O enthusiast & owner since the early 1970s this is a most welcome book & quite unusual in its format, as one that spent my working life in high tech electronics I found the chapters on production & development fascinating.
