The Flight Nurse Bible: A Field Guide To AwesomenessHarris, Robert P. Reviews

This book desperately needed an editor. Much of it is written in Title Case or ALL CAPS randomly. Took about an hour to read and contributed nothing that a basic web search wouldn't tell you in about the same amount of time. If you know absolutely nothing about nursing or helicopters it might be good for a laugh. If you are looking for helpful information, a reference or you know, a flight nursing bible, look elsewhere.

Robert demonstrates a clear vision on how to become a flight nurse and what it all entails once you are actively working as a CFRN. When reading, The Flight Nurse Bible, I felt as if it was my first day in the field training with him. The images in the book are so vivid, you’re able to get an idea of what the career is like. I can tell Robert is extremely passionate/happy about his career choice and it motivates me to further pursue this path as well. After my experience with reading and speaking to Robert directly, I got the reassurance I needed to know this is my calling. I strongly encourage anyone who is interested in becoming a Flight Nurse to read this book and to reach out to Robert if there’s additional questions.

I’m a new grad that’s been dreaming of flight since I knew it existed. After graduating this month, I decided it’s time to start building my resume and improving my chances of making a flight nurse ASAP… so I picked this book up. It reads like a long winded Facebook comment or blog post — very informal/conversational with a quirky writing style (Like This & LIKE THIS & LikeThis). Information was okay. Has some valuable tips that I had not read online before (interview tips, gear suggestions, book/study guide recommendations). Also has self confessed arrogance and unnecessary opinions bleeding through… (Who tells students to not worry about loans?!) Overall, I think this book should have been a blog post, and I would not jive with the author as a mentor.

What does it take to become a flight nurse? If you are just getting started in the medical field, or are well on your way to success. This book offers a wide variety of helpful tips to get you to where you want to be. From what to expect in flight world (the tears and of course the glory). Test taking strategies, gear to use, tips to make your life easier. Ask your self how prepared do you wanna be? This book was very helpful,to put you on the right path to success. When you ask yourself what certs do I need to do flight nursing? How do I get the right material, what books do I need? You could google it and spend hours figuring it out or just start the process and hope for the best. I don’t recommend this, I personally did and was getting frustrated and didn’t know where to begin. This book tells you what certs you need, what books to read and how to study them for your exams. Can you say one stop shop?? This book is worth your time and effort. Even if your not going flight nursing and choosing a different path like paramedic,PA,Doctor RN etc you can take something away from this book.Over all great read, educational and funny, definitely recommended!
