3dtotal Publishing3dtotal was founded in 1999 as a simple 3D resource website. Over the last decade the site has evolved into one of the premier CG art websites in the world, offering a variety of training products, an inspirational gallery, a free texture library and hundreds of free tutorials on a variety of subjects.
In 2006, 3dtotal entered into partnership with Focal Press and launched the popular book series Digital Art Masters and Digital Painting Techniques. The premise for these books was to provide high quality content that would inspire and educate the next generation of digital artists. Featuring the work of top industry professionals, detailed tutorials and image breakdowns, these series have become firmly established as indispensable resources for any digital artist.
After five successful years working with Focal Press, 3dtotal Publishing was launched in early 2010. As well as self publishing the next volumes in the pre existing Digital Art Masters and Digital Painting Techniques series, 3dtotal Publishing has launched a number of new titles including: Sketching from the Imagination, Beginner's Guide to Digital Painting in Photoshop and ZBrush Characters and Creatures.

For the price of admission this book really isn't what I'd expect. What this book is, basically: a whole bunch of 3d artist's workflows and styles put into one book with no narrative or analysis Why are so many people giving this book 5 stars? I've read a few anatomy books and if anything, I understand the human body less then when I started. If you're looking for a bunch of really impressive artwork and no detailed explanation to how these talented people achieved it.Then this book is definitely for you.I suppose thats not strictly true, it does try to be helpful by showing you (extremely vaguely) how they might have done it, they miss out a ton of steps in between. But thats what happens when you find people who are very talented artists but not very good teachers. I'm not really sure how I can even comment on the information in the book. So thats what the biceps look like? Ok, cool, cool. All these anatomy books seem to do the same thing: Here's some drawings! Here's some bones! (of in determinate gender), here's some muscles! here's a body builder! Here's a very sexy lady!If that bone comment doesn't make sense, go on Google image search and search Human Skull and try to find a female skull. I guarantee anybody who uses this book as a reference won't be able to do it. Here's another brain teaser for you! True or false: Female and Male spines have different curvature. Another one: What are the differences between the male and female pelvis? Which this book doesn't cover either.

Was happy with the purchase until I opened it up and there was a flattened moldy flower inside. This book was second hand however I’d expect to be able to read all the pages and some of them are fused together and torn from the moisture of the flower. It kinda looks like someone has used to book for flower pressing but this is not acceptable condition to sell in. Especially not nearly full price.

I haven't finished this book yet but I am quite pleased with it so far. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes human anatomy and proportions but this book is providing me with quite a lot of useful information that's helping me improve my work. This is definitely worth to buy if you're a beginner 3d artist and wants to improve your knowledge on human anatomy. It's also quite easy to follow even for someone like me whose first language isn't English.

The only art anatomy book I've found that is actually useful for drawing, instead of setting you up to pass a medical exam.

one of the best books on anatomy I own, for CG artists sculpting figures this is a must.
