A little gem for comic book enthusiasts ( i e for those who fancy the Franco Belgian Bande Dessinee ), one of the founding fathers of graphic novels ( the series started in the very early 1900s ) revisited. The drawings of Jean Pierre Pinchon are beautifully resurrected, a beautiful mixture of the vintage feuilleton style and nowadays' text balloons: the individual frames are separated by colouring, not by borderlines. Highly accomplished lettering, and an enchanting story ( the heroine visits La Provence), which won't miss any clichee ( Bonjour, La France ). Back in the day, Becassine inspired George Reni ( Herge ) to design Tintin ( thus the similarity of their respective faces ) Faites attention: the book is in French.
