So disappointed with the photos, Don't buy this book if you want good photos of Lalique's work buy Imperishable Beauty instead, Some photos in this book are outstanding crisp and large, showing excellent detail, Many of the others are slightly out of focus, poorly lit, with limited contrast and on very dark backgrounds.
It's difficult to see the pieces in any understandable detail, For example a ring on pgis printed atxbut on a full page background roughlyx.
It's all background, and it's not the only example of this treatment, Some of the smaller photos are frustratingly dark and unclear, The photos look like they have been taken from multiple sources of varying quality, and unfortunately it shows.
What a beautiful book, Full page, full color photos, with many of the pieces being shown larger than life, Original drawings of the same pieces are shown on a facing page, I wish that some of the photos of people and places had been reproduced larger, but the original old photos may have been very small to start with, and may not have blown up well bigger than they were originally printed.
All in all an absolutely

I've thought about the book ever since, and I'm so glad I bought it, It delights me now as much as it did then, It's the next best thing to being there, and such a collection will probably never be assembled again.
