down the person's behind the brazen kidnapping of the US secretary of state.
The crime is linked to a notorious international terrorist, but it is not that simple, There are many plot twist and intrigue along the way,

The main story includes Logan hooking up with a female FBI agent who is also working the case, Together, they get into and out of several scrapes and narrowly miss catching the bad guys as they careen through the story amid gunshots, fist fights, and car chases.

The main characters had complex back stories and the personal relationship between Logan and FBI agent Angela Grainger is itself like a third central character.

The story moves along quickly and is a good and entertaining read, There are some British idioms and spelling that the American eye has to get used to, and the British authors views of Americans and the FBI may raise an eyebrow, but the book on the whole is engaging.

There are some pretty big plot holes and leaps of faith and logic, some times when the author forgets that his character just suffered a major injury and yet can still move and fight like a healthy soldier, and a surprise twist that seems overly complex and rather unnecessary.
The depiction of agent Grainger as tough and competent but also prone to emotional breakdowns and helplessness is sometimes hard to reconcile, even at the end.
But the deficiencies in the story are only minor distractions from enjoying the narrative and in the end I would recommend the read, this deserves astar
I am not quite sure what to make of Carl Logan, He's not perfect, by any means and is easily distracted, I'm surprised he got as far as he did, With or without Agent Grainger, It's not someone I would follow, unlike some of the other books that I have read, This one did not grip me and took me a while to get to the end,
Thank you Dance with the Enemy by Rob Sinclair/stars
Firstly staying vague and spoiler free I will just say that if you haven't yet read this book don't read this review as further down it will contain spoilers instead go read the book as it's brilliant ðŸ
Ok spoilers below you've been warned
On starting this book I was wary that it would need to grab me instantly as I tend to dip into the thriller genre between chick lit and romance reads so if it doesn't grab me instantly I get bored.
. within a couple of pages I was hooked ðŸ with a fast paced start it was hard not to continue reading as the plot unfolded and what started as a dip into the book became achapter start to the book ðŸ sadly at this point I had to put the book down to read something else that was time sensitive to finish so it was a while before I continued when I came back to this book the second time I expected to need to back track a bit but instead found I fell straight back into the story without any need to refresh my memory of the earlier chapters and again got quickly gripped into the storyline.
I found this book had great attention to detail without becoming over descriptive and boring in the process and some of the gruesome scenes had me feeling quite sick to the stomach though I'm a wuss when it comes to gruesome and gave me a huge amount of empathy towards the characters.
I loved the main character Carl Logan known as other names within the story too being an undercover agent though possibly not intended I found some of his intended covert ops quite humorous as they went askew in ways you wouldn't think possible for someone so well trained lol.
Which in turn made me feel sorry for his boss Mackie who seemed to spend time covering Logan's tracks than working up new intelligence ðŸ”
Further characters provided great additions to the storyline and although when things seemed to be tying up I knew there had to be due to having a chunk of book left it didn't occur to me that the story was heading in the direction that it ended up going in which made for a nice surprising twist at the end.
looking forward to the next book in the series but will be sure to make sure my schedule is clear next time so I don't have to put the sequel down ðŸ I bought the three 'Enemy' novels as a single 'buy' on a promotional offer encouraged by the quantity of high ratings showing on the books' pages.
I stopped reading a little overpages into the first 'Dance with the Enemy', Frankly, I was bored stiff that quickly and promptly went back on site to look at thestar ratings, In my opinion, they have it right, I have deleted all three items as they would otherwise prove to be a great irritant sitting there waiting on my Kindle, As a matter of note, although I only bought/downloaded the offerdays ago, there has proved to be no refund option available in 'My Contents' on these three which are listed separately rather than as one 'bundle'.
I wonder if this was because the three were a 'promotional' offer or because has been deluged with refund requests for these books ! 'Dance with the Enemy' completely blew me away.
The storyline was well written and the way it played out took me by surprise, Full of action, deception, mystery, suspense and some twists and turns, I absolutely loved it. The characters were a great combination of good vs down right evil, Logan started out a mess, Hell, he was a mess throughout the story, but he was a kick ass mess, He was very good at what he was trained to do, Grainger was a lot like Logan in many aspects, And she proved she's almost as kick ass as the men, It's scary, for me, to think there are agencies out there like JIA, but it also makes sense, I can't wait to read the next book in 'The Enemy Series', A great add to your tbr list, Recommended./, Voie Georges Pompidou Seine River, Paris, France, American Embassy.

Tony Parsons MSW Washburn Dance with the Enemy is the introduction to Carl Logan, I started the series way behind with the James Ryder series but enjoyed them so much, I had to start the story from the beginning.
Logan is a haunted man, a dangerous man if you are on the wrong side of him, Dance begins with a broken man and his trail as he slowly starts to heal from his torture at the hands of the evil Selim with the help of FBI agent Grainger.
The story moves across two continents twisting along the way to a climatic finish This book had so many twists and turns, my head was spinning.
I never foresaw that ending, not in a million years, Wow.

When I started reading this book I wondered about the title and how it fit in with the story line, well it was only at the end that I realized the significance.
Rob Sinclair is a master at portraying his characters and tense situations, As a reader I was with Carl and later Angela every step of the way, Maybe I was too involved with the story to be objective about all the happenings, :

I am overjoyed to see that the second book in the series is available, I cannot wait to pick it up and continue on this adventure,

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book, The story has a few holes but is not bad, though hard as it tries, this is not a Jack Reacher calibre book, and Sinclair is no Lee Child though in fairness it probably took Child a few attempts to find his perfect voice.
I found the main character reasonably believable, but the supporting characters for the most part were fairly flat especially Angela Grainger, an FBI agent who seems to weep crocodile tears at the drop of a hat.
Also, the author being English is therefore better at crafting dialogue for a Brit, but he needs a bit of work at American dialogue.

I purchased both Carl Logan books together and am a few chapters into the second one now, So far it seems better maybe I just want it to be, time will tell, Perhaps the fact that there are no significant other characters yet is helping, Introducing Carl Logan

Dance with the Enemy is the action packed and gripping first chapter in the highly acclaimed and bestselling Enemy series of espionage thrillers featuring Carl Logan.
