The Illustrated Rumi: A Treasury of Wisdom from the Poet of the Soul Reviews

This is a unique Rumi text focusing on the tales and the storytelling as well as the poems. The translation is modern but poetic at heart and retain some of the old feelings and odors. The illustration enriches the text and give you the sense of the old and mystic , some are related directly but other are indirect references to the text. I like also the framed poems which uses persian and arabic lettering. The book focuses mainly on the Mathnawi but also parts from the Ruba'iyat and the Shams Tabriz. I acquired the book mainly because of the illustrations but feel that it made me experience Rumi as a Storyteller of the Divine

The illustrations are great, the translation still doesn't capture all the beauty of Rumi's work.
