A funny and engaging guide to finding awareness in daily activities beyond sitting meditation from a rising leader in the Insight Meditation community Meditation is great but it's not what Buddhist practice is all about Deep insight and liberation from suffering can be found in any ordinary activity from sorting the laundry to data entry as long as we approach them with the necessary awareness Such is the teaching of Buddhist monk Sayadaw U Tejaniya who himself learned to cultivate awareness in the raucous years he spent in the Burmese textile business before taking his final monastic ordination at the age of thirty six In this refreshingly modern guide Sayadaw U Tejaniya teaches us how to bring awareness to all activities By training ourselves to be aware of the clinging and aversion that arise in any situation calm and deep insight will naturally follow The object of attention is not really important he teaches but the observing mind that is working in the background If the observing is done with the right attitude any object is the right object The flame of wisdom can be kindled in the midst of any life even one that might seem too full of personal and professional commitments to allow for it

What a great read for applying mindfulness to everyday life. I always found mindfulness very tiring and Tejaniya points out why I am going wrong. Good background into his life. Recommended

I found this book extremely helpful to my meditation practice. I feel as though I was groping in the dark and Sayadaw's autobiographical guide has given me focus.

A well written book that explains the problems of the mind and how one man addressed and conquered those problems. He explains various aspects of the Buddha's Dhamma that resolve life's problems, through talking about his own life problems. These problems are issues anyone could experience, and many, many people experience very similar problems. This is exactly what the Buddha's teachings are all about how to release the burden that you carry so that happiness may arise. I purchased the audio book, and it is very good. If there is a fault, it is very minor and only have to do with how the book is read. Sometimes, the mannerisms are good, sometimes not my style. But, to me this is no real concern. Overall, this purchase and teaching is very well worth it. Heartfelt thank you to this teacher and the authors who took the time to produce such a fine work.

This book is a spiritual bomb. That too the hydrogen bomb that will begin the chain reaction on your samskaras. If you ever need one book on meditation, this is the one. Period.
