Good photos and nice text. A great book for someone who is just starting to build a fish book library.

This is my new go to marine fish ID book. The pictures are very good and the identification key is very helpful for differentiating similar looking species. I have several fish ID books for my area and this one is defiantly the most detailed and precise one. I would highly

The key here is that I was able to get a paperback version for less than 15$ whereas some of my colleagues spent close to 70$ on the hardback version. As a guide that will most likely be used in the field it is bound to get beat up and abused. I have no worries taking this

I really like the keys to help identify out fish by spines, etc, but some of the photos are not good representations of the fish. I am glad I bought the book, but I supplement it with other "picture books"

This book is an excellent resource for anyone interested in the Gulf of Mexico.

Good text book for classifing any fish found in the Gulf of Mexico by families, but not a quick picture reference book for identifying your catch. If the pictures had been better in "Fishes of the Gulf of Mexico". I would have given it a five stars rateing.
