Good. Very good. Almost 5 stars worthy for me, it somehow lacked something I can’t put my finger on. It successfully weaves several important themes together a cohesive way and honestly reveals historical events and persons in a warm and inviting way.

Well written, imaginative, I could not put the book down. It is a rags to riches story of immigrants coming to America, especially the Irish and the awful potato famine, bittersweet. I felt as if I was inside the gilded halls of Fairfield. I highly recommend

I have read many of Marie Benedict’s book and enjoy them immensely. When I first open the book, it feels like sitting I am sitting in a comfortable chair listening to a dear friend! Enjoy the book!

I liked the book, it was an easy & interesting read. I liked learning what a lady’s maid did & other historical details. I didn’t like the whiny letters that she received from her sister & then at the end, nothing was said about her bringing her family over or

Great story, I could not put it down. Very well written and great characters development specifically Clara and Andrew. Love the end.

I'm halfway thru the book. If you like historical fiction as I do, you'll enjoy this. It's an easy read and gives a lot of insight into the Irish immigration and class struggles.
