an adult, I wasn't that impressed with the story, Boring, repetitive, predictable and Peepsqueak is awkward to say over and over again, I never really cared about Peepsqueak or rooted for him to succeed, and he never really interacts with other characters.
As an inspirational story, I think it fails in that regard, It's all about Peepsqueak trying to fly which is fine, but in the end it's like the moral of the story is: "If you can't do something for yourself, have someone else do it for you.
" And once he "succeeds," he's off to something else,
But my son really enjoyed the repetition in the story and getting to participate with the "He was on the move!" lines.
The illustrations are simple but very pretty, I just felt the plotline could have ended better, The repetition in the text might make this good for early readers, but it goes on for too long to hold most little wigglers.
Art is cute but unremarkableand why do all the chicks have clothing or accessories while the grownup animals are au natural
Underwhelming.
This was a real cute book about a little chicken, We really enjoyed the illustrations throughout this book, Though I wish there was more words to this story,

sitelink blogspot Love, love, love it! He may be a peepsqueak in stature, but he's a supersqueak when it comes to effort and determination.
The use of cute farmyard animals is always a draw, The use of repeptitive language will make it a good read aloud selection, The toddler and PreK audience will be able to identify with Peepsqueak's persistance and constant movement,
Its great that although characters kept telling Peepsqueak no, he kept trying, When he succeeded in a roundabout way, the naysayers changed their tune to one of affirmation,
And just in case we forgot how spirited Peepsqueak is, the story ends with the beginning of his next adventure.
Love the phrase "On the Move", We used it lots with both boys and it became such a frequent saying we shortened it to "moves" so right away I was hooked.
I love this little guy's tenacity and preserverance and will recommend this to all the parents who want books about not giving up but, also, it sends the important message that you sometimes need a little help to achieve your goals and that's okay!
How much do I love looking at new picture books A whole lot! In the past few years I always loved it when I was working in the children's room and I could look at the new books before they were put out on the shelves.
Now that I work up here more of the time, I always get to see them and it makes my day to see fun, colorful, new picture books! Peepsqueak is always on the move.
He wants to fly and tries many different ways, but each time he falls down, Finally, Peepsqueak's friend take him up for a flight, All the animals that doubted Peepsqueak are happy to see him fly, Then, Peepsqueak decides to go for a swim in the pond, The book provides a subtle lesson about perseverance to children, Children will appreciate the recurring chorus "Because why He was on the move!" Additionally, the book promotes print awareness with the words up and down repeated in different colors to match Peepsqueak's attempts to fly and subsequent falls.
The book could run a little long for some children, Such a cute story about how one little Peepsqueack won't let others tell him what he can or can't do.
He is determined to do what he sets his mind to, even if he struggles first, Great book for encouragement when things are tough, Peepsqueak is a chick who hatches slower than the other chicks, He is different than the others as well, He is constantly on the move and wears a read sure that says "P, S. " He is determined to fly, despite what Yellow Ducks and Big Sheep warns, They think he is too small, He jumps off of things in an attempt to fly, but sadly fails, That is, until, Old Gray Goose lifts him up and lets him fly,
This book is good for studentsand up,
This book is really easy to follow and kids love farm animals, It also has great illustrations,
It would be good for an activity about farm animals, or about diversity, It could also go along with an egghatching classroom activity, This sweet little book made me smile, Peepsqueak wants to fly high, and all the animals tell him he can't do itbut he tries, and tries and tries.
I'm definitely going to use this for story time, perhaps for a "Friends" theme or an "I Can Do It" theme.
In the book, "Peepsqueak!", all Peepsqueak wants to do is fly, Every time he takes off, he falls to the ground, But, Peepsqueak finally gets his chance to fly high into the sky, This book is geared for kindergarten or first grade students, Its purpose is to entertain, In my classroom, I would use this book as a read aloud just for fun,

Precious! Peepsqueak! reminds me of classic childrens tales like Chicken Little or something, except a little backward.
The great art and uplifting story work well to make it a classic fit for beginning readers,
Peepsqueak is just a little thing, too small to fly high, or so the other animals say.
Peepsqueak never gives up though, Hes a determined little chick and hes not letting anyone bring him down, As he tries various ways to get in the sky, he encounters all kinds of naysayers, Eventually, when he realizes hes not the flying kind, he meets a friend who will help him reach his goal of flying high in the sky.
And I just love the end when he decides its time to swim, Hes so cute!
This is a
good one for a bed time story for the little ones who arent ready to start reading or as a first reader.
Peepsqueak! by Leslie Ann Clark is about a little chick that is always on the move, He tries, and tries, and tries to fly, but he can't fly high, All the other animals on the farm tell him to not even try, because he can't fly, Eventually Old Gray Goose comes along, and Peepsqueak hitches a ride on her back, and proves to those other animals that he can indeed fly! Peepsqueak! is intended for grades preK through aboutst.
This book is a good fit because it teaches kids to never give up, and to always try their best.
I could use this book in my field to teach lessons on trying hard and there are also great rhyming words to teach from this book.
Clark, L. A Peepsqueak. New York: Harper. My little guy is two and a half and loves books, We've read countless books to him and he has a pretty impressive library, so I've definitely developed a particular taste for children's books.
Some of them are more catered toward children, which isn't a bad thing, but it's always a delight when I come across a book that we both enjoy.
Peepsqueak is one such book,
First off, it must be said that this book is adorable, I loved the rounded, fluffy drawings of Peepsqueak and the other barnyard animals, such as Big Brown Cow.
The colors are bright and vibrant and mostly done in a more primarycentric sort of theme, I've noticed that my little guy responds particularly well to books that are brightly colored, He really enjoyed the illustrations in this one and he pointed at the animals and told me what sounds they would make.
He also noticed some of the details in the instructions, such as the little yellow flowers that dot the soft, green grass into which Peepsqueak tumbled.
I also really enjoyed the story and its theme of determination, even when met with the skepticism of others.
Peepsqueak is determined to fly, and he is not going to let anyone dissuade him, I really like the message of not allowing others to hold you back, to go right ahead and reach for your goals with steely determination.
I also like the fact that Peepsqueak tries, I think this is a really valuable lesson for kids, who are often frustrated by not being able to do something on the first attempt.
And what happens once Peepsqueak succeeds He goes on to do another thing his friends try to tell him he can't do! The kids loved the book.
They found Peepsqueak to be very entertaining, I had a difficult time reading it, It didn't flow very well at all, Just the name, "Peepsqueak" is rather difficult to say over and over, And not difficult in a "Fox in Socks" by Dr, Suess way, but difficult in an awkward did I say it right kind of way, The repeating phrase of the books is "Because why He was on the move!" That isn't clever or even cute.
I would have given it far fewer, but the kids did enjoy it, so that counts for something.
Summary: Right out of the shell Peepsqueak is ready to go! Even though he is just born he is ready to fly and he continues to try and try again, meanwhile everyone is telling him he cannot fly.
Finally someone helps him get his desire to fly, He does not get there how he plans but when he is flying he has a blast!
Audience: Is for any student who has a goal in mind or wants to try something and maybe too scared to do so.
Appeal: This book is great because throughout the book we see Peepsqueaks bravery and determination, He shows with hard work you can do anything, even if it is not the way you planned.
Implementation: I would use this book talking about how we all have goals and tasks we want complete.
Sometimes we even have how we will complete our task in mind, but our original plan is not always how we achieve our goals and that is okay!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Bright images with amusing details, repetitive phrases, and a Peepsqueak who is perpetually positive and "on the move" are the ingredients for an engaging picture book that kids will attempt to read on their own in short order.
I actually discovered this book after finding the second book in the series in a book contest, and then found this at the public library.
Peepsqueak has just hatched but already he wants to fly, It doesn't matter that roosters don't fly, he will try and try again until he does, And eventually, with the help of the Old Gray Goose, he gets his chance, Once that is done, he wants to swim, I loved the seriously cute brightly squiggly illustrations of Peepsqueek, the other baby chicks, Big Brown Cow and the sheep.
My son liked the text and sound effects I made while reading the book, Recommended for ages, stars. This book is a great book about a little chick who doesn't give up, no matter what his friends try to tell him.
He wants to fly and he tries and just keeps on trying no matter if he fails, This is a good book to read to children during a lesson about not giving up and to keep trying no matter who tells them that they can't do it.
I think this book is super cute and would be a good book for a kindergarten class,
Clark, L. A Peepsqueak. New York: Harper. Summary: A baby chick named Peepsqueak does not listen to the advice of Big Brown Cow, Big Sheep, Yellow Duck, and Baby Bunny, and tries again and again unsuccessfully to fly, until Old Gray Goose gets involved.
Worked very well with Prek Story Class this week theme birds,
Repetitive phrase throughout the book, "He was on the move!" that kids joined in with me in reading, Book also relates to theme of perseverance, The little chick keeps trying to fly even though each time he tries to go "Up, up, up.
" he falls "Down, down, down, " another place for kids to join in!, He doesn't get upset just keeps trying again, Like the Little Engine that Could!
Themes: birds, farms, flying Really cute story about baby chick who is "on the move" trying to learn to fly.
Nice rhyming text, reviews "up and down" concept and lots of nice repetitive phrases to chant during storytime.
